The Gap-Toothed Bench

Another shot from my lunchtime heatwave walkabouts this week. Some of you might remember the Great Hospital posts (part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4 … sheesh - re-reading those is like attending a somewhat sweary history lecture); well here it is in the autumn sunshine with some nerines in the foreground. I like nerines; they bring a touch of spring to autumn.
The Great Hospital is just across the little bridge from my office and on my route in to the city centre. I can see St.Helen's tower from my window.

Anyhoo … I rather liked the gap-toothed bench. We've let 500 Words lapse terribly but if anyone fancies writing a story around that bench we'll make it this month's assignment.

Have a spiffy weekend.

The Nerines look lovely and bright...and the bench looks good for a sit! It is so good to know you have a lunch hour again!!

Nerine. Now I know the name for them. We get a lovely mauve-y lily here at the end of summer, around August. They seem so refined and elegant to me, blooming at the top of a tall, slender stalk. I look forward to them, look for them.

It's a beautiful picture, made even nicer by the flowers. G'day.

Mum, nerines always look out of place to me. Pink's a late spring colour but it certainly brightens up the end of the year.

G'day to you too, Speedway. I was walking past and suddenly there was this chock of pink against the green. The gardener has planted nerines all along the railings and they are rather startling.

The gap-toothed bench: In honor of Alfred E. Newman?

Lovely scene! A peaceful place for lunch.

Hope your weekend is grand.

Hee hee, Ms. M. I'd forgotten Mad Magazine. My weekend's turning out okay so far, thank you, if rather hot and sticky.

Nice bench—Hmmm, I wonder what conversations and chance meetings might have taken place there.

I do remember the hospital posts. I loved those.

What conversations and chance meetings occurred there are entirely up to the writer, Robyn. Get your pencils out and bless us with the power of your imagination.
