I've just lost all track of time. What year is this? I really don't have a clue this morning. Anyhoo, here's another example of a sweet juxtaposition of old and new, like the Forum and St.Pete's a couple of days back.
Have a nice whatever day this is.

It is Thursday jazz night! (I hope) but the photo is very good...
The weather should be better today as well...
Ah, Thursday. Thanks for that. All I have to do now is figure out which planet I'm on. Boy howdy, my brain needs caffeine this morning.
Yep, Thursday. There must be something in the air worldwide, because I screwed up my own timing, too.
I love the juxtaposition of I. M. Pei's Pyramid with the (older)Louvre. For me, there's something about the way glass both takes on and reflects the curves of older buildings that makes both look better. I guess maybe the older buildings don't seem so frozen in the past and the newer pays homage to the past.
Is your Grail located here?
Speedway, whichever angle you catch the pyramid from it gives an amazing view and some wonderful reflections. Seeing the fractured images of the Louvre in its glass makes me think of all the old palace has seen and survived; royal and religious intrigue, revolution, empire, war and peace on the grand scale, and now tourists, the modern scourge, and - horror of horrors - a Mc.D in the basement.
You had me stumped with the grail reference so I Googled it. Ew! Dan Brown? I have never read anything like that and never will. I confess to sneaking a peek at the movie when it came on the telly, but only because I have a thing for Audrey Tautou. Even with her in it I could watch no more than a few minutes before switching off in disgust. We only live for a finite amount of hours and those few minutes spent watching Audrey wandering around in a mac are minutes that I will never get back. Wasted and gone for ever. A pox on Mr. Brown and all such tosh-peddlers.
I couldn't understand why people were so hot about some bit of pop lit, so I read it and was extremely disappointed. I actually know people who refused to read it because they thought Brown had ... Oh, I'm so exasperated I don't even have the words. Worse, he copped out on the ending so not only was it crap, it was safe crap! Which made it even more crappy.
I like being in places where I not only feel as though I'm walking where others have gone before me, but feel I am awalking among them, their spirits surrounding me as I experience their "homes."
Yup, the Louvre has certainly got a heavy load of hugely entertaining history on its shoulders.
As for the other thing, I'm glad I no longer commute as it always depressed me terribly to see people who wouldn't know literature if it shat in their latte reading Dan Brown or Harry Potter on the tube. They've probably never read a real book in their lives. I used to keep count and there were always at least a hundred non-books to every real one on the trains and tube.
Wonderful photo! I, too, like the juxtaposition of historic and modern.
BTW, are you sure today isn't Friday?? Been thinking it's Friday all day :-)
Mercifully, Ms.M. I am reading this on Friday morning so woohoo for the weekend!
