Friday Again

Yay! Good Friday! A day to forget about getting up and going to work and instead to laze around in front of the fire, cursing the freezing weather and listening to Bach's St.John Passion.
I don't have a photo of a crucifix, so instead here's some spiky driftwood to commemorate two thousand years of religious persecution and bigotry.

Wednesday Window

Still snowing here, and due more at the weekend.
Fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck.
Here, to give my eyes a treat, is the view from Phil's window on his African Adventure. Lucky git. Say hi to the Indian ocean.

Dead Horny

Understandably rejected by the herd, the buffalo mime wandered off to die alone in the desert.

It's The Fourth Sunday of Lent, So …

… it must be Mother's Day (at least in civilised countries). Smothering Sunday we call it.
This is not Mum, Phil and me, though I'm sure I have some trousers like that somewhere.
Happy Mother's Day, Mum! I'm now on my way over for lunch and to steal some of your sausage rolls (what are sons for if not to exploit your baking mercilessly)?
Yes, I know, I know … EVERY day is Mother's Day. Sheesh!

If It's Friday It Must Be Driftwood

Get out your pencils and sketch pads; it's another one of Phil's wonderful shots of Indian Ocean driftwood.
And hey! This one's got a snail orgy going on inside it.

The Elegance of the Walking Handbag

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.
Even cold-blooded creatures overheat sometimes.

Bugger that! I'm off to the pool.

Walk gracefully … walk gracefully! That idiot Englishman is taking photos so don't waddle!

Okay … That's enough of graceful. Let's bellyflop into that nice cool water.
Mmmmm …

Wednesday's Decision

Hmm … Wednesday. Half-past week.
Am I sufficiently excited about that to get up off my lazy ass?
Probably not.

WTF Monday - Mmmm … Buffalo Snot

When it came to unpopular evolutionary niches, this one was for the birds …

Today's To-Do List

It's Sunday … The housework will do itself.

The Lazy-Assed Egret's Guide to Life

"Looky, looky! See how tall I am? I'm taller than these dumb hippos! Check out my legs, laydeez."

"Ha! Fooled ya!. This is how I roll: hippo-surfin' style. Walkin's for losers."

"Look, ma: no wings!"

Gnarlyswirly

It's Friday, so it's anther of Phil's wonderful Indian Ocean driftwood photos to help us slip languidly into the weekend.
Actually, my weekend's going to be really busy but it will finish with a concert by Alina Ibragimova on Sunday evening so bring it on!
I love these driftwood shots; they make me want to reach for a pencil and draw them.

Pink

It's Thursday, so it must be another in my long-running weekly series of photos of salt pans with a single baobab tree in the background.
Okay, so maybe not that long-running.
Doctor Dive says: if you - like me - have high blood pressure, clogged arteries and heart problems, stop putting this shit in your mouth. I gave it up decades ago and - in much the same way as giving up sugar in coffee makes sugary coffee taste as truly disgusting as it is - after a couple of weeks of salt addiction cravings I suddenly discovered what food actually tastes like. Believe me, it's like waking up to a world of colour after having lived life in black and white.
The downside is that most restaurant meals now taste too salty to eat; the upside is that I'm still alive.

Poser

Men! Huh!
Preening, vain and so in love with their own reflections.
Here's another photo from Phil's African Adventure to demonstrate that it's not just human males who act like that.

Make It Snappy

It's Sunday. Disturb me and you might regret it.

Drift Away

It's Friday, so here's more Indian Ocean driftwood to help lull us into the weekend.

More Boids

More boids from Africa. Phil assures me the egret was not chasing the plover; it was just coming in to land where the plover was roosting and spooked it into flight.
Nice shot, though.
