WTF Monday - You Really Don't Want To Go In There …

Seems like everybody's in Paris except me, dammit! Colin and Linda are over there for a long weekend and sent this back via Colin's phone (hence the fuzzies).

In case anyone needs confirmation that old men like to giggle at schoolboy humour, here's Colin in Rome, adhering to the dictum, "When in Rome, do what the Romans do: pee in the fountains and make little girls flee for their lives."
Or something.
Rome is currently bracing itself for Phil and Colin's next visit in February. Probably a good time to stay out of Italy if you don't want to get caught up in this type of behaviour. They'll be taking over comedy duties from Berlusconi.

We may grow older but we're damned well never going to grow up.
Happy Monday.

More Trashy Old Buildings

As we saw yesterday, finding a tiny sixth century chapel with some earlier Roman remains is a pretty big deal in my part of the world but just to put it into perspective, some people have a whole city full of that stuff.

Phil will be back there in February to photograph lots more of it for us (and to watch some rugby and probably drink a lot).

It's Sunday, Let's Have Some Sun

Wednesday Window - Lonesome Pine

Another window from Phil's last visit to Rome.
That has to be one of the most beautiful houses I've ever seen.

Wednesday Window

Yes, another excuse for alliteration. Plus I realised I have rather a lot of photographs of windows so it makes for a good no-brainer posting day.
This window is in the Vatican and comes courtesy of Phil.
No, he's not the Pope.

OHMYGODAHORSE! WAAAH!

It's Saturday, so it's time for a Silly Statue (for no other reason than some gratuitous alliteration).
This one's in Rome (thanks to Phil for being a rugby fan and heading down to Italy to photograph odd stuff for me during the Six Nations Championship) and appears to depict a half-naked man with an oversized hand startled by a small horse emerging from a cave. Unless my eyes deceive me some inexplicable cacti and a laughing snake also come into the equation.
Obviously a huge amount of time and effort has gone in to depicting this tableau for our fuddled bemusement. One wonders why …
I've searched Ovid's Metamorphoses in vain for the story.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
