Popping out of the office to buy a paper I noticed these two enjoying a romantic lunchtime by the river. Why they're facing this way is quite beyond me. The view they're looking at is of my 1960s brutalist concrete office block and a bunch of crappy fibreglass pleasure boats; the view behind them across the meadows is of one of the most beautiful buildings on this or any other planet.
I guess some people are just born to face the wrong way.

Another good photo, only you could take a great pretty photo and find a red whatever it is in it!
And they aren't even looking at the giant red banjo. That big tree seems to be in the way of the great view, doesn't it?
G'morning, Dive. Why should they care about the view when they are besotted with each other? And are those football (Am.) goal post in the background?
It's the life belt for drunks who fall in the river, though it looks like it's fallen off its perch.
Robyn, Norfolk is Deliverance Country. We have to have banjos.
They do look a nice happy couple, don't they, Speedway. And no, those are the rugby posts for the Cathedral School. A couple of decades ago they tried to start and American football league in London but it never took off.
You forget something: they were looking at you.
Lovely scene, and I think that this couple was discussing you and imagining your life and what you were shooting with your camera. The view behind them would be worth turning around for.
Bises,
Genie
I think Vanda and Genie are on to something -- the couple seem to be watching you, perhaps wondering what you're doing, pointing a camera in their direction.
So is that red item really a giant banjo? Does it play Foggy Mountain Breakdown when you press a button?
Vanda, they have even less taste and judgement than I originally thought.
Genie, I sneaked this one with my little G11 (taking my big camera to work every day would be a drag; the G11 slips into my pocket and can peep out to take quick snaps of people without their realising it). The view behind them is truly beautiful, with the Cathedral spire soaring up into the blue heavens over the wide sweep of meadow and trees. My archives already hold many versions of that view, taken from under that very tree.
Ms.M I am always wary of pointing a camera at people (unless I'm at Goodwood when I always ask their permission) so this was a quick hip shot. The original is at a crazy angle so I had to rotate and crop it in Photoshop.
And being Deliverance Country, everything in Norfolk plays Duelling Banjos when you press a button. It's our national anthem. Our county motto is the Latin for "You sure got a purrty mouth, city boy."
Oh you haven't seen anything like Deliverance County compared to my neighborhood. Yes I am in what James Carville "affectionately" called the Alabama part of Pennsylvania.
That wonderful cathedral looks weirdly futuristic from this angle. (of course it could be those drugs again).
Hee hee for the Alabama part, Neetzy. Too funny and slightly scary.
You're right - the flying buttresses make the Cathedral look a little like something from a 1950s space movie.
