Yikes!

Just a quickie as the village electricity supply has gone off twice this morning already. I think the wind keeps blowing the donkey over that powers my broadband, too, as it took over twenty minutes and several re-connections to even load my home page.

I was going to title this post "Blow Job" but I don't want the kind of attention that sort of title brings. Actually, "Blowing The Donkey" would have been good, but again, rejected for the same reason.

Trees, sheep, people, cars and roofs are currently flying past my window at 85mph. and it's going to get a whole lot worse over the next eighteen hours or so.
I think this is why the government is frightened of encouraging wind power. The wind tends to get a little overexcited at this time of year, like a two year old with intraveinous Sunny Delight.

We are also underwater …

Ah, village life …
Power cuts, crap broadband, a pub straight out of American Werewolf In London, inbreeding and invasion by fucking tourists all summer.
The price we pay for living somewhere beautiful. I would say "at least it's picturesque", but it's raining so hard I can't even see across the road.

Ame, take note. You'll be coming over to Olde England during what is traditionally celebrated as the festival of "Fucking Hell!", when hurricane Katrina's unruly children go berserk on this tiny island and we plucky Brits hide in holes with some beer and porn mags.

So if I disappear for the rest of the day, I'll very likely be clinging to what's left of my roof as it disappears over Holland.

Lovely bit of writing there, Dive. lol Katrina's unruly children. Like it. Here too, i'm afraid. Terribly windy (she understated) - my fields/lakes at the back of my house are now showing several of the lighter trees in horizontal position - i haven't had to go out yet but i hear there's a fair amount of mayhem in Gloucestershire today.

I assume you don't take the train into work on days like this. I have to admit, there is a part of me that wishes the weather would get fierce here on occasion so I can hide with no excuses. But it rarely does. We haven't even had snow yet. Take care, and enjoy your hiding.

You guys get all of the interesting weather. Flooded and windy, take a sailboat to work, it may get you there faster.
Over here we have the middle of the continent flooded in the middle of a drought and fires coming up from the south. They haven't hit our region yet, that won't be till late february.
I need a diversion, I'll swap you wetaher, I'm kinda getting bored with sunny and 28 degree's. I have a new book so some doona weather is required.

Thank you, Lynn.
I get the feeling that you have not yet posted your last flood photo of the year.

Morning, breakfast buddy.
My trains are running a skeleton service so far, but it's bound to grind to a halt this afternoon, so no; I work from home in bad weather.

Sailboat, Kate? No way! We've got an abandoned freighter running amok in Devon at the moment, and last week's winds gave us an oil tanker adrift and narrowly missing two gas rigs, so I'll stay clear of the water.
And you're more than welcome to our crap weather.
I know we Brits are always moaning about the weather, but that's only becasue it's so crappy.

"Blow jobs." "Blowing the donkey." "Sheep." You are so going to get the best search terms.

Sounds like a blast. Ha! Our weather finally behaved yesterday, so it was colder than a witch's teet. Of course, yesterday was when I had lunch plans with one group of friends, and dinner plans with another, so I was walking all over the fucking place. Brrrr!

If you find yourself in Oz, hang out for a bit before clicking your heels together three times. You might ride out the Fucking Hell.

Bugger hanging on to the roof, hang on to the beer and the porn hun. Priorities, those family people will be after you next.

dive said...

Sassy: Oops! I thought the search terms only looked at your titles. Oh, bugger. All that time spent carefully avoiding Knudsenesque "Hot Midget Sex" titles is for nothing.
And gosh, that's hectic social life for a wednesday. Seems like Little Sassy Schmoozer is still with us.

And Kate. I'm afraid I'm all out of beer and I never was much of a porn fan. So it's sad old guy's glass of red wine and a good book instead.

Dive hears the wind a coming, it's coming down the glen. He ain't seen the sunshine since, he don't know when. He is stuck in Norfolk Central, time keeps draggin on. But that wind it keeps on blowin’, and now his dial-ups gone.

Now when Dive was just a young boy, his momma told him son, "Careful when the wind blows, it might knock ya on ya bum” but he was such a headstrong youngn’ he wander out instead. Then it knocked him on his noggin, just like his momma said.

Most of London’s floatin’, floatin’ down the Thames. Cats and dogs are flying carried in by rain. But Divy keeps his chin up, treading waters high. Poor Divy is a sinkin’ hey someone help this guy!

Well the day is growing bleaker, the wind is kickin up. Come on Divy Baby, you gotta suck it up. We’re rootin for ya baby, please keep on hangin on. We here when things are better with wishes well and true. We’re praying for ya Divy that you will make it through

Hee hee.
Folsom Prison Blues Redux. Great rewrite, Prudence.
So far, wind speed on the coast has only hit 99mph, but those pesky weather men have told us we're still a few hours short of the worst here in Norfolk … ulp …

Hang on Sloopy!

I can see why Sassy likes you so much.

Another quick one for Ame:
Yuki - a Japanese artist studying in London - has posted some mouthwatering pics of London.
They're on:

Mmm … Sorry about the slurping. I'm chowing down on yakisoba from yesterday's Japanese shopping trip.
YOW!
… er … I'd advise against eating hot yakisoba when fresh out of the bath and blogging naked … Kinda interesting, if initially painful, pubic noodles effect …

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

What's all this about stirring? I've obviously missed the joke ; i'm clueless.

Sassy Sundry said...

Dive, how are your search terms today?

Utsav said...

Ah the British and their weather. The worst part is that it seems to have gotten to me now, sice I can think of nothing else now. If you've been following my wait for the snow, well the skies cleared today, without a single flake of snow having fallen. Crap.

Good luck with the roof, by the way. Do drop me a line if it comes this far :D

dive said...

Hi, Ame.

That stupid Blogger cut the last few digits off the link.
It's as above, but with 29323/ added on the end.
There's a lovely one on page two of the County Hall (where you may stay) with the Eye.

Lynn: Your guess is as good as mine.

Sassy: I'd love to know, but my connection isn't fast enough to use my nerdcounter from home.

Utsav. I hope you have some snow soon. My roof has survived the day, thank you.

Stay tuned for February's broadcast.

Knudsenesque

it hasn't caught on yet, if you see any hooses landing in a witch with stripy tights, get stuck in there lad and make her toes curl.

Ame said...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...strip? Tight? Curly toes? Think there's a hidden message in OBB's comment Divey Boy? ;)

And do you know anything about Marriott's Marble Arch property on George Street? Near Hyde Park? And Theatreland?

I look all these up on my fave site, Trip Advisor dot com...but just wanted a local's take...if ya have one that is! ;)

dive said...

Nothing at all, Ame. Other than it's handy for Soho and Mayfair. A bit of a walk, but I suppose they think anyone staying there will be using taxis.
