It'll probably make Lynn pine for London again, too.
On my way back to the office from Wimbledon, via a very circuitous route, I stopped off at the Japan Centre in Piccadilly for べんと and groceries, picking up some なっとfor Mayuko while I was at it.
As the sun was shining, I took the pretty route back, along Piccadilly to the Ritz, then through Green Park (below) …
… as far as Buck House …
… and then across the road into St.James's Park (yes, Ame; swans! Including a black one) …
… where it was so cold, my face fell off …
… and back to the office, via my outrageously camp barber, Alex, for a winter shearing.
And here I am, washing down my べんと with a green tea and gradually getting the feeling back in my fingers.
Brrr … Winter has arrived!

Such lush green color in the winter, nice!. Here everything is brown. Your face fell off? That is great! When I was young (12) my folks thought we should learn to ski, at night mind ya! So, there I stand on the front of the mountain, waiting my turn, being very board. I decided to stick my lips on my metal ski pole. Well the instructor was ass, he never told me to spit on it to release my lips from its frozen grip. What did I do... rrrripppped my lips off it. Blood running down my chin, the instructor sent me down the hill to my mom! I never went back.

And Ame; yes, that's a walk you've got to do. One side of Green Park is St.James's (with Trafalgar Square at the other end of it), and the other way is Hyde Park. Yummy.
And Piccadilly has Fortnum and Mason's and the Ritz and Burlington House on, and Soho is the other end of it.
And while the sun shone at lunchtime, we are due snow tonight and for the rest of the week. Today was that horrid, pre-snow northerly wind that peels off your flesh and cracks your bones. Brrr … Shivery me.
It was not a pretty site! Maybe someday I will post about being tortured by my oldest brother throughout my childhood! Can you say tacks!

Divey Boy...that is a walk I'll NOT want to miss...any good little cafes/coffee places to linger at along that route? Is the people watching good?

You could stop off for tea at the Ritz (on the corner of Green Park).
Harrods is off Hyde Park.
Plenty of places to munch and slurp all over the place.
Check out the parks on GoogleMap. Print out some bits and mark on the places you weant to go, then plan your walks.

You have indeed made me pine. Oh no Dive, how am i going to get London out of my system. I'm seriously considered working there, in fact i've applied for something at the Daily Mail only today. Fingers crossed... and some magic for making that journey if ever i get it.
Picadilly and the Ritz. Played a few tables there and had tea ohhhh! and the park, mmm, the swans, buckingham palace, i do envy you Dive, i must get back there within a few weeks!

Prudence i too shrivelled in pain saying aloud "noooo!" and it put me in mind of a scene from 'Something About Mary' was it? laugh and squirm at same time.

Dive, we are all indeed pining. There are no plans for traveling in my future, though, so I'll just have to enjoy the photos and anticipate the tales Ame will tell on her return. I remember loving Trafalgar Square and all the parks!

You're welcome to ours, too. I hate the stuff; it makes my commute an even greater nightmare (unless it's bad enough to work from home, which I don't think this will be).
Not the sushi, Lynn (sushi happy hour doesn't start until 4:30). A yummy bento box full of goodies with lovely hot sticky rice ladled out of the steamer. A real warmer in a freezing Green Park.
I've got my fingers and toes crossed for your job, Lynn. Even though the Mail is a loathesome rag, if you get a job there, I'll make sure and buy every issue you contribute to.
And Fortnums has a fabulous window display at the moment; themed on Alice.
And no room sharing, Ame.

In Old England it's grey by the time it hits the ground and it usually means I spend five hours stuck in a broken down train with no heating or lights.

I wish I could take up that offer in retrospect, Dive. I was in London for a visit in November '05. My sister was living in Twickenham at the time.
I had an absolute ball. Loved everything, even the cold. And especially off-licences and the mind boggling choice of ales.
One day I'll visit again - but not for a while, since I quit the day job to expand the teaching studio... I feel an extended bout of poverty coming on!
