Monday Melee, Take 3

It's a cold and rainy Monday in Olde London Town, but I'm the man who loves Mondays and I'm feeling kinda bouncy this morning, so look out!

Time for the regular wrestle with Fracas Monday Melee.

1: The Misanthropic.
(Name something - about humanity - you absolutely hate).
This week I have been mostly hating humanity's inability to provide the perfect latte and the perfect croissant in the same shop at the same time.

2: The Meretricious:
(Expose someone or something that's phony, fraudulent or bogus).
I know it's like shooting fish in a barrel, but this one goes out to our old favourite, George Dubya for his increasingly insane attempt to stick the next administration with an illegal and un-winnable war with Iran.

3: The Malcontent:
(Name something you're unhappy with).
Amazon's lamentable inability to track down a copy of Kanda Bongo Man's "Amour Fou" on CD after six months of trying. Looks like I'm going to have to digitise my old vinyl copy. Oh, the ignominy …

4: The Meritorious.
(Give someone credit for something and name it if you can).
This morning, I raise my Cuba Solidarity Campaign coffee mug to the first person who left the seeds of the coffee tree too close to the fire and thought "Mmm! That smells good! I think I'll crush 'em up with this rock then put 'em in some hot water".

5: The Mirror.
(See something good about yourself and name it).
I'm feeling particularly perky this morning.

6: The Make-Believe:
(Name something you wish for).
Something very private and very rude.

Try that Dive. They say they have one new CD from Canada. Worth a shot.
Happy Monday.

Thats the rest of it. Weird, blogger cut off the tail end.

No such luck, Green-Eyed Gaijin Girl. Just Dive's regular Monday Anti-Blues, only more so.

As for number 6; I'll refer you to Ian Dury's song "Wake Up And Make Love To Me", specifically the line:
"What happens next is private …
It's also very rude."

Excellent work Prudence!
Thank you. I'll give 'em a go.
Oh, by the way, did you manage to meet up with Sassy at the weekend?
And did she tell you all the dirty on this Intriguing new guy?

Enjoy your very private and rude thoughts.

I'm going back to bed. Feel icky.

Sounds like somebody had a great weekend!

You are welcome Dive. I am pretty successful at finding obscure music. My "reconnecting" sends me on many seek and obtain missions.

Yes we did meet up and yes I did get the "inside track" on the new guy. However, friendship trumps salacious gossip. You will have to inquire from Sass the real story.

Sassy, I hope you feel better soon.

Well, now you've got us all thinking what private and rude thoughts could make you so "bouncy." You can't just drop lines like that and walk away. Talk about rude.

dive said...

Rats, Prudence!
Hey, Sassy! Get your ass outta bed and make with the salacious!

Seems that "talk about rude" is all I can do these days, Robyn.
Actual rudery evades me (sigh).

It was the Viagra Robyn!

~ducking and running~
=))))))

Hee hee.
Hey, Ame! This time next week we'll be taking London by storm!
Woohoo!

Sorry, I can be dense. I just read the lyrics to the Ian Dury song you named. I should have read them before my earlier comment.

And of course I had never heard of Ian Dury before, living in a bubble as I do.

And I'm already floating DB!!! Better find some kind of weight to strap around my ankle so I'll actually be able to stay on the ground and eat lunch! ;)

Off for some tea (English Breakfast of course!) and trying to figure out my life for today...sick kid again...sigh~

Please snap your fingers Divey Boy and make everything peachy keeno!

;)

Oh, Robyn. The late, great Ian Dury was a small pop art painter with polio who happened also to be the greatest lyricist of the Punk generation (after Patti Smith, but he ran her close).
He also wrote very funny and "somewhat bawdy" songs about life in Essex and the East End of London; my favourite being the exceedingly rude "Billericay Dickie", about the carnal goings-on in the life of a Billericay bricklayer.
The first verse sets the tone:
"Had a love affair with Nina,
In the back of my Cortina,
A seasoned-up hyena,
Could not have been more obscener …"
Pure poetic joy (hee hee).

And Ame; everything is tickety-boo and spiffy over here (regardless of the rain). London lays defenceless before you. Enjoy!

TICKETY-BOO

1. Going smoothly, doing all right. Copacetic.

2. Proceeding quickly.

This expression may have originated in Scotland, where it's the title of a popular children's song. A song called "Everything Is Tickety-Boo" was recorded by Danny Kaye as part of the film "Merry Andrew".

This expression is heard more often in Canada nowadays. May have originated in the British military. Possibly related to the Hindi expression "tickee babu", meaning "everything's alright, sir". Some people spell it "diggity boo" or "tiggity boo".

Everything is tickety-boo, tickety-boo, tickety-boo...

I like it! 'Tis my new word for the week! And I have no doubt you'll have me spellbound DB! ;)

=)

They say to be careful what you wish for Dive.
Like the coffee thing.
Get well soon Sassy!
Ian Dury was a master. He really hit you with his rhythm stick.

Speaking of getting well, how's the flu progressing, Lynn?
We've got to have you back in full working order in time for Ame's arrival.
I prescribe a long hot bath by candlelight with a bar of Green and Black's Maya Gold and an inadvisable amount of Armagnac.

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

Oooh Dive NOW you're talking! What a delicious remedy that is. Not a lot better i'm afraid, thanks, hoping will start to feel better soon though i'm sick to death of it!

Ame said...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....here's my mini-mini-meme..."Name something private and rude I want to do"...to know what Divey Boy's "private and rude" thingy is! LOL! ;)

The perfect latte and a croissant. You only ever get half of what you wish for. I wished for breakfast and got a hot chocolate and a croissandwich. I've given up on croissants until I find a french person to show me how to eat them properly.

dive said...

Sounds like a job for Monsieur B. Kate.
In my opinion, the correct way to eat a croissant is the way I've just eaten mine … with an expression of rapturouos joy.

And try not to get bits in your keyboard like I did …

Lynn: I'm good with quack remedies that involve alcohol, chocolate and lazing around.

Ame: you can hire rooms (and any necessary equipment you may require) for that sort of thing when you get over here.

Heh heh.
Shoot the whole day down, Old Man.

LOL DB! Moi? Got me all wrong guy! ;)
