WTF Monday - Don't Leave Home Without It

WTF?
Time to put your twisted brains into gear and hazard a guess as to what this might be.
Hint: it's from Papua New Guinea.

When Jules visited last week she came bearing gifts, both beautiful and bizarre.
I'll leave you to decided the category into which this falls.
All I'll say is that it's probably the sweetest and most thoughtful present anyone has ever given me.

I promised Jules a photo of me wearing it.
So as not to spoil the surprise I've chosen to wear it in an inappropriate fashion. To narrow down your guessing, I can confirm that it is not a beard cosy.

Neither is it an ear trumpet.

So what is it?
Oh, and please forgive my "whiskery old-timer" comedy Movember facial hair.

Me, too.

A dick cover, perhaps? If so the wear was gifted. I hope he had a nice belt to hold the cover in place.

If it weren't so big (haha) I would think it was one of those finger traps. You know what I am talking about?

I bet it's for holding food of some kind. Pull the string to keep it closed--kind of like a zip lock bag but good for the environment and a lot prettier.

Hee hee, Speedway.

Katherine, that's an intriguing suggestion. I'm not saying what it is yet, but "holding food of some kind" made me giggle.

It is a quiver for darts or arrows. Or it's a Papau New Guinea gnome's hat, or native dice cup, or a trinket to sell to a white man for a lot of money.......

A seed holder, used for carrying and planting seeds? A "hornucopia"? New Guinea's version of a shofar? A Papua version of a fanny pack?

Hi there, MITM! Good to see you again.
Your last guess might be the closest yet (except for Speedway, of course).

Hee hee, Ms.M. Some great suggestions.

My first thought was the same as Katherine's, until I saw it in context. Now I know Speedway's right (and therefore, MITM's final guess, as well).

It's both practical and decorative, Petrea; much healthier for the male anatomy than jeans.

BAHAHAHA! I just saw that Jules (b-day girl) had a pic taken by you so I had to investigate. I TOTALLY knew what that sucker was because Jamey used to live in PNG so I've seen all the, ahem, accessories already.
Glad you got to meet each other!! Love the funky November beard! It reminds me of the crazy grandpa on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (though you look much younger of course) ;)

Ah, boys and their phallocrypts … we do love our accessories.
Thanks for the reminder about Jules' birthday, Shan. I never read those Facebook notifications, but perhaps I should.
Mercifully, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang beard has disappeared and I'm back to being able to sleep without being woken by it scratching against the pillow.
