New Atlantis

I found this rather splendid Cluff cartoon in today's Private Eye on the train on my way home.
It made me think of our Lynn and the plight of the residents of Tewkesbury.

For all of the latest news and photos from New Atlantis, float on over to Lynn's photoblog.
Shudder at the view from her window.

I once lived in a house that flooded. That's the main reason I now live on a hill.
Much as I like the thought of our lovely Lynn getting all moist, I do hope she manages to stay high and dry this year.

Fantastic Dive! I must rush out and get a few copies of this for my boys! What a great cartoon.

I'm honoured to be posted about he he. So far i still have toes, though my wellies are becoming well used. Today i saw the first sign of horrid brown bubbly stuff lapping at the edge of one of the floods. I pray it's not the sewers now. Eek and ugh together.

It comes out in London on a Tuesday, Lynn, but only seems to reach other places on Thursday. It's the issue with the Home Secretary and the kebab joke on the front.

Yikes to the horrid, brown bubbly stuff! I hope it's just silty spume blown by the wind and that your water supply remains pure this time.
Eek and ugh indeed!
I'm thinking of you, here on my hill in the dry eastlands.

I think we're both pervy, middle-aged men, Rich.
And I kinda like it that way.

There's quite a lot of squeaking and popping going on in Tewkesbury this evening as i squeeze into my wet suit...lol

Thanks Dive i'll get it this week.

The brown bubbly stuff ugh and yes i do have a photo. Perhaps i should post it tomorrow and you can confirm whether it's the rather more technical silty spume. I'd rather go with that.

Hahaha! I love it! See? You really make my day.

Yes, Lynn, do keep safe. You do know how to swim?

When I was little, we lived in a house where when it rained, we'd have an instant swimming pool indoors. I'm not kidding. Our dining table and chairs and lounge suite would all be floating on water, even my plastic pink doll. And by pool I mean about 3 feet deep!

Lynn, be safe! Especially if you have to get out of that wet suit quickly.

BTW, I could probably cause my own flood by drooling over your house! Is it as magnificant as the pic shows??

Thanks for the link to Lynne's post. Hope you're staying dry? Anyone who knows you're in Norfolk will know that your quip about being on a hill is a fib. How do the broads work? Do they maintain their level, or do they spill over and soak the bitterns?

Joy: That must have been so much fun when you were a kid!

Katherine: Unfortunately, that's not Lynn's house.

Pea: It is a hill by Norfolk standards. Hee hee. A slight undulation anywhere else.
The Broads flood all over the place. All of our marshland and water meadows are currently shallow lakes.

Thanks for your good wishes, people! Very kind. I'm dry thanks, the fields are flooded but the shops are open.

Katherine sadly no, Dive's right, it's not my home, i was joshing i'm afraid. The flood's got to me, clearly. I drool over that house too!
