Grey

Whoop di doo!
I actually made it to work today.
"Normal service" has been resumed on the trains so I was "only" 65 minutes late.
2008 has started like a Trabant on a frosty morning.
I've a good mind to send it back and ask for another year.

London, like Old Dive, is grey and subdued this morning; as inspiring as an accountancy textbook.

Everything seems to be in greyscale at the moment. This reflection of a tree in the lake in St.James's Park is about as good a description as I can find of the year so far; a black, meandering, confused mess.

Roll on spring.

I wouldn't have been too surprised if the remainder of the staff, all failed to turn up at the office today, just to trick you, Dive.
Unfortunately it wasn't April Fool's Day, but it would have been poetry; thinkest thou not ?

There are only three of us in the office today, Monsieur B.
Most people seem to have celebrated New Year's Eve rather too well and are still "recovering". There's a vomiting and diarrhoea bug sweeping the country at the moment and they are all using that as an excuse.
Serves them right.

Conjures up quite an image.

Isn't that to do with the golfing cry, "fore!" ?
I mean, when folks used to chuck (it) out the upper storey windows into the street ?

More information needed here.

That was "'gardez l'eau". Monsieur B; vulgarised by Poms as "gardy loo".
and yes, I suspect most of our workforce is closeted in their loos as I type, experiencing all the joys of arse gravy.
As to "fore"; I really have no idea. Golf is a foreign country to me. It seems to exist solely an excuse used by middle-management to dress like complete twats and skive off work.

You're making it worse for me! God I miss the sun!

Hey, as it turns out, this Saturday we begin viewing properties (5 in one day!) at 9am and will also be meeting finance advisers. So no time for ice skating.

Wow! A really busy day, Joy.
I do hope you find something you really want (and can afford)!
Good luck!

I MUST do some of these wobblies! Can you see there's a little man dancing at the top of it, too? Ahhh... oh. It's just me??

GORGEOUS pics, as usual. No one ever said gray had to be ugly. On a regular basis, of course, it makes you SADD.

Well spotted, Lynn.
And I'd love to see you do some wobblies … er …

Katherine, grey can be sexy; at least I'm hoping so as some stray grey hairs are popping up on my old head.

Sometimes it feels good to go into work. For the last two weeks, I feel as if I have had this fake smile plastered on my face ("Well...hello, Aunt Ginny! How nice of you to stop by! No. No need to call first, of course not! And what is that in your hands, is that your famous fruitcake? Well, we are ALL in for a treat, aren't we. Come in, come in!!!")

I am just glad to not have to listen to Christmas music anymore. This morning, I woke up to John Lennon singing about watching the wheels go 'round when my alarm clock clicked on and it felt pretty decent and much better than one of those lame Christmas songs...

It was indeed rather refreshing to get back to the noisy metropolis after a week of peace and quiet, Maria.
Much as I love Lennon, I'm a Radio 3 man, so at 4:40 this morning Shostakovich's 5th blasted me out of bed.
