August?

Holy crap! It's August already. How on earth did that happen when we've only had three days without rain since February?

Whatever …
The news this morning tells me it's time to wave a fond farewell to Gore Vidal. Great author, great man. Smart, witty, controversial: always a good combination. America needs more like him.

And over here at the Olympics, it seems my efforts to train the Chinese badminton team have not been an unqualified success. Watching them and the Koreans both playing to lose has to be the most pathetic sight we've seen since Mitt Romney's ignominious departure.

And it's raining again.

Get a grip, August; you'll have to do better than that.

In the meantime, Cat and Girl have nailed the Olympics:

LOLOLOL! Great cartoon.

And I cannot believe how much rain you guys are getting. Are you in the Noah's Ark Zone?

I should think the sight of Mitt's departure would have been glorious. I'd be delighted to see him go.

Noah only had forty days and forty nights of rain, Katherine; his ark would have been underwater months ago in our weather.

Petrea, we are indeed delighted to see the back of him, but we really didn't want to see him in the first place. His visit soured the joy of the Olympics.

Imagine how we feel.

It must be awful to have him back, Petrea. I wonder what lies he will use to put a spin on his utterly disastrous vacation.

Looks like he's going to keep on the same spin:

Can we send him somewhere else? Maybe a cruise on the Gulf of Aden. Perhaps he'd like to comment on the culture of those enterprising Somali pirates.

Hee hee, Ms.M.
If he wants to demonstrate his knowledge of what America gets up to abroad he should tour Afghanistan. And yes, sailing across from Somalia to Iran would be the ideal route.
