News this morning that one of my favourite Americans is bringing out a new album to help voters over there understand what's going on.
The man who gave America back its real music; who gave us Into The Purple Valley, Chicken Skin Music, the incomparable Bop Til You Drop, the slide soundtrack to Paris, Texas, THAT solo on John Hiatt's Lipstick Sunset, just keeps on getting better and better.
Ry's last three albums - his "California Trilogy" were breathtaking. From the outrage and sadness (and not forgetting hilarity, Hispanic dance heaven and a UFO) of Chavez Ravine, through the Dustbowl Odyssey (with Æsopian fabulous animals) of My Name Is Buddy, to the gloriously supercharged carmageddon of I, Flathead (released with its own novella attached), he has been the soundtrack to the real American Dream.
Now he launches Election Special.
No idea what it's going to be like musically (Ry makes chamæleons look bland and predictable), but I can be pretty damned sure that its politics will be bang on target.
Go buy it. I just pre-ordered my copy. Then listen to it before you vote.

I'll have to give this a listen.
He's been a political campaigner for decades, Ms.M. yet he seems far better known outside your borders.
