He's back now and brought me some lovely bottles of wine as usual.
Then I got home today to find Fern waiting for me on the doorstep.
As I opened the door she jumped inside and deposited The Gift Of Frog on my carpet.
I love frogs. This one was totally unharmed, so having thanked Fern and shooed her out I carried it down the the bottom of the garden and let it go under some damp, dense shrubbery.
The reason for today's utterly pointless post (pointless for non-frog-fetishists, anyway) is that I am preparing a doozy of a post for tomorrow.
Be warned.
Wear appropriate protective clothing.

aren't all of your posts doozys (or is that doozies?), sugar? ;-) xoxo
He's actually kind of pretty, very shimmery and colorful. It was kind of the cat not to bite off his little head and leave the rest for you.
That's OK s'long's it's not a frog recipe, old son.
Will you be in protective clothing as well.
I'm all in suspenders, Dive.
Savannah: I wish!
xox
Frogs are pretty, Robyn. They like sitting on your hand on cold days, too, soaking up the warmth.
Fern is too polite to decapitate my present.
Frogs are our friends, Monsieur.
Having said that, they are delicious!
I am always in protective clothing.
Well, now I have goosebumps....
So erm, this Fern. Is she a neighbour, a friend, a girlfriend? She brings you frogs and then you shoo her out. Well, whatever floats your boat i suppose, Dive. I've got tons of frogs in my garden.
Maria: Frogs are lovely!
Lynn: Hee hee. Charlie and Fern are Jerry's lovely cats (ha! I know you hate cats). They are wonderful and look after me.
Cute frog! Glad it wasn't a frog that had "kicked the bucket, shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!"
Per your comments yesterday, if you don’t move to SF, you should at least visit! And I can't believe you have an earthquake monitor on your desktop. (Granted, I'm an earthquake geek who immediately logs in to report feeling an earthquake, even at 2am.) I have a few weather widgets and clocks on my dashboard too, but not as many as you (I like to keep a very orderly dashboard). Never read any of the Hitchhiker’s Guides, but a rubber planet with earthquakes sounds a bit kinky, but fun!
If all goes well with my scanner, tonight you might see yourself and a bunch of your friends on my post. Then I'll have to get to bed early to rest up for you doozie of a post tomorrow!
I'm not so sure about putting 'cats' and 'wonderful' in the same paragraph, Dive, i'm really not.
Frogs and toads are entirely a NO GO with this girl! I being part feline, of course adore cats entirely. But if one brought me a "Gift of Frog", I'd surely never trust him or her again! Grody.
I'm looking forward to your doozy post. I'll be gone most of tomorrow so I'll have to catch up late. Byeee!
I soooo love frogs....... but not toads (2-legged or 4-legged for that matter)
I do like a bit of rubber - so all in rubber for tomorrow sounds fun!!!
Well, Jules can opt for rubber; I'm a leather girl myself. You were lucky to have a live frog and the frog was lucky to have been returned to a sheltered and damp spot.
Yesterday on the deck we found a rather dead rat which the magpies took to feed their young. I'm not sure which of the cats was responsible but I'm betting on Felix this time. Lillipilli is also a good hunter.
So glad that Charlie and Fern are looking after you so well Dive.
Our cat went through a frog stage too, kept bringing them un harmed (as he is well fed on tuna and munchies he does not have to prepare).
The funniest of sights when he brought them in, either the poor frogs head in his mouth sufficating by his breath or by one leg..the poor frog.
We would let it go too at the bottom of the garden and a sure as ever next day another or it could be this same poor frog being brought in again...lol x
Katie, if you have a Mac, go to the widgets homepage and load up "Tremor Skimmer". It's a world-wide real-time earthquake monitor and totally cool.
Yes, I HAVE to get to San Francisco. In the meantime I'll pop over to Katiefornia to see if your scanner was working.
Lynn: Cats are wonderful. There. See? It's easy.
Woohoo! Shan, congratulations on being the first person to use the word "Grody" on my blog!
The only other time I've heard that is on Frank Zappa's "Valley Girls", where his daughter Moon does an hilarious impression of an airhead and says "Grody" a lot.
Cool! I love that word!
Jules … Now I'm going to be unnecessary all day.
Mme: A dead rat is the best kind. Hoorah for your hunters. It's also nice to see cats being so considerate that they would leave food out for the baby birds.
Welcome, Chazza!
I must say the cat photos on your blog scared the willies out of me. Hee hee.
I sometimes wonder if the cats bring in the same frog over and over again.
OH THIS IS QUITE AN HONOR! (blushing) I'd like to thank the Zappa's and everyone else in California who made my use of this word possible. I don't know where I'd be without the expressiveness of your great "Valley" language and the others before and after. xo
