It's still September, so why the heck are the leaves starting to turn?
I checked back in my autumn colour posts and found that this doesn't usually start until the first week in November.
And why is it eighty degrees and getting hotter?
I think someone set the English climate on "shuffle" this year.
Dumb, dumb, dumb weather.
These are the trees along the river bank outside my office, by the way. They should be green for another month at least. I have a feeling we're in for a truly sucky winter.

How lovely they look ..as an artist you should just love the colours... and we cannot do anything about the weather, so just enjoy it..we used to call it an Indian Summer...and then the winter will not seem so long..
Indian Summer used to mean a nice, warm, sunny October, not an icky, sticky September heatwave where it's too hot to sleep, eat or do anything except lay there gasping like a beached whale.
Your photos of the leaves are spectacular. I see a gorgeous house in the post below. You have quite an eye for photography. Sorry you are having a heat wave with the changing of the leaves. Mother Nature has had a cruel sense of humor this year.

Did you have a drought in England this year, as did much of the US? That will influence when the leaves turn, as well as whether they have much color, won't it?
80 degrees? It's a chilly 50-ish here today with threatening cloud cover, so we're bundled up, even the puppy. No, just kidding. He always wears a coat.
Hi, Sam, and welcome! Two and a half hours standing in the rain for a Renoir exhibition, watching the people with a Museum Pass getting ushered straight through their own special door is enough to persuade anybody that those things are the best way to go.
Speedway, we didn't have a drought. It's been an odd year. A wonderful April (usually filled with April showers), a sopping wet May (usually sunny) and a summer of alternating sticky icky hot days and thunderstorms has left the plants as confused as the people.

The leaves are turning there but I do not understand the warm weather. I thought that you guys would start getting much cooler. We have been in the 80s here but that is pretty normal for us. Our leaves do not turn until late November. If we cannot wear shirtsleeves at Christmas we get cranky.

I agree about the odd weather. Last weekend it was 98F here, which set a record for this time of year. It's usually in the 60s-70s here. And tomorrow is forecast to be 90F! Maybe the gods are unhappy and need some sort of appeasement....
I guess we can't say "climate change" unless it becomes regular.

Our heatwave is sucky but it's good to see some sunshine at this time of the year. We're up around the same latitude as the bottom of Hudson's Bay so it's going to start getting real chilly soon.
Ms.M gods are always after appeasement. No matter how many virgins we throw into volcanos the English weather will always suck.

Petrea, intelligent weather is lovely. We get about two days of it a year, round about the end of April. The rest of the year it's dumber than the Tea Party.
Lucio, as I'm home from work I will say yes to the scotch. Friday evening is a gooood time to kick back and enjoy one of those.
