I took these this morning on the way to work. This kind of thing is almost enough to cure old Dive of sweary cynicism … almost, but not quite.
Fuck it; let's just look at the pictures, shall we?
Just look at those crowds of people! Why, oh why am I the only person here?
Why am I the only person in London looking at this?
Am I the only sane person in Metropolis?
Yup, that's old Dive showing Lynn some more leaves.Lots of 'em.
I spent a delightful few minutes kicking them everywhere.
Wheeeee!
I was talking about words that are nice to say in my last post. One of my personal favourites is the latin name for this glorious deciduous conifer (the dawn redwood):
metasequoia glyptostroboides.
I love saying that.
And the inevitable shot of the Parasite House for our Lynn.Note not just the giant plod, but the three tiny plods on the roof.
Today was the day when the old German bint who lives here pops down the road to Parliament to listen to Fat Gordy droning on, so plod were everywhere.
There were a bunch of around twenty of 'em on Birdcage Walk, all tooling up with Heckler and Koch sub machine guns. The buggers told me not to photograph 'em.
Spoilsports.
Anyhoo. This is what makes my commute bearable.
Pretty, eh?

Is nobody there because it's still only 6am?
Really lovely photographs.x
Now you're talking! Great shots!
Oooh Dive i loved all that. Really did, an absolute pleasure thank you. I especially liked the miniature plods spying from the roof. The colour of your leaves far surpass mine and kicking them! Wow what fun, haven't done that for years. I shall make sure some kicking is done tomorrow for sure.
That was truly a gorgeous journey into leafy London.
gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous, sugar!
Finally colour comes to London. I find it odd to wish for autumn, inevitably winter will follow.
Hey, Spinny. It was quarter to nine, the height of the rush hour. Most of the horde are stuck on tubes and buses or they actually (get this) walk AROUND the outskirts of the park!
It's the same when I walk along the Embankment. Nobody takes in the Thames any more.
Madness.
Hi Rosie: Thank you so much.
Prudence: This grey and rainy little island will never come close to your New Hampshire lakes and mountains in the fall, but sometimes it is pretty nice.
Lynn: Kicking through leaves just makes me grin so much. I'll be doing it again this morning in another three hours or so.
Cheers, Savannah!
Kate: Now you're thinking like Dive. Excellent. Bring on the misery of Christmas and give me good reason to get ranty. Hee hee.
I loved those photos! Really beautiful. Very Impressionist in fact. I can't recall if I've been to Sta James's Park. Hmmm...
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo.

That is a nice phrase to say, although I can't pronounce it--it LOOKS like it would be nice to say anyway.
Why are they called "plods," or is that a rude word I shouldn't be asking about?
Joy, st. James's Park is beautiful (as you can see) and the Palace is at one end of it. If you cross the road there you are in Green Park and at the other end of Green Park is Hyde Park. You can walk for miles in gorgeous greenery in the centre of Westminster.
Come up and meet me for lunch next time you are shopping in London.
Robyn, PC (Police Constable) Plod was a character in the Noddy cartoons when I was a kid. "Plod" is one of the milder euphemisms for the police.
Dive, you old bastard, you.
I reckon you are getting soft in your old age.
All this brings me to tears.
You certainly have a very sharp eye for detail and it is sooooo nice to see that the ole german person has so much security up, up on the roof.
Hell's teeth, how on earth did you spot that lot, mate.
You Btitish chaps are sharp.
And... your autumn leaves are truly pretty.
Also, Robyn's question is quite profound. Not too many foreigners would know that one. I guess it's a bit of a British cultural thing. I'll be on 'Standby'. awaiting your response.
Great post old son !
That's a great commute, Dive. I drive past Waldon Pond every day, but rarely stop to take it in. I should.
Is it just me or does your shadow look like its wearing queen victoria's dress?
he he Kate.. i thought he must secretly be Dr. Who.
Monsieur B: I'm using the classic trick of being nice and cutesy to make my next rant seem even rantier. Hee hee.
Fresh: You SHOULD! Go photograph Walden Pond for us! Let's see what old Thoreau was on about.
Kate and Lynn: Damn! You spotted it!
Actually it's a rather nice navy cashmere overcoat. I've had to chip ice off the car every morning this week so I need it to keep my old bod warm.
I, too, wondered why you seemed to either have a jack-the-ripper overcoat on or a lovely Cinderella gown.
And, yes...if I could walk through this every morning, I would be less likely to snarl at the other parents in Liv's school.
Meanwhile, I'm scraping ice off of my car here.
Nice pics dive -some of those look a lot like New England
