Quick question:
You're in the pit lane at the race circuit with racing cars screaming past and zooming in and out of the pits to change tyres and engine parts or to refuel; what essential items do you think you'll find there?
Fire extinguishers? Mechanics' tools? Spare tyres?
Hands up anyone who said "A box of lollipops and some pansies."
Welcome to the surreal world of Goodwood. More fun and frolics to follow through the week.

That is so sweet, ha ha..
Hope the head is Ok this morning, looking forward to more photos..
yay for lollipops and pansies. Did you come home with a headache?
Don't worry, mum, more photos are on their way.
I always wake up with a headache the day after Goodwood, Robyn. It's part of the general malaise that sets in once a body gets past it's use by date.
tyres? really...not tires?
Definitely tyres, PA. Outside of the Colonies "tires" just means "makes sleepy".
A few years back we tried to get a Transatlantic Dictionary going in Blogville, but I went off on too many rants against Noah Webster's simplified execration of the English language so we had to stop before it all ended in tears.
Sir, Sir, I knew that Sir, I said lollipops and pansies Sir !!
Do I get a prize?
You do indeed. Here's a lollipop and a pansy.
What a nice little race course, Dive! Is it used for more than just the Revival? Are there separate stands for the horse races, or are the two courses intertwined somehow?
What no brats-and beer-parties afterward for the course workers? Just a sucker and some flowers?
I love coming here for my laugh of the week! What a hoot. Lollipops and pansies all around!
Bises,
Genie
The last thing I expected to find in the pit was a bunch of pansies.
Speaking of the Blogville Transatlantic Dictionary.
Haha, good one Petrea! And good surrealism, just what I needed for a Monday. Looking forward to more fun and frolic.
Something for you on my blog in just under two hours, my friend.
Speedway, the course used to be used for Grands Prix just after the war and is still a competitive race course. The horse race course is about two miles away. In between them lies Goodwood House where all the serious partying goes on (unless you're really into lollipops and pansies).
It's a strange yet alluring combination, Genie.
Hee hee, Petrea; I'd not heard the word used with that connotation since school. I can't wait to see what you post today.
Ms.M, today is frock day. Watch out for some yummy dresses.
