Why is there a no entry sign? I do not think I would want to enter there... I agree with savannah, I liked the Paris and Norwich pics better.. sorry...

Hope your second day back at work goes well... thinking of you, your parcel has arrived here!

I had to come back to tell you that this image of the Pompidou forced me ;) to find some of our Paris pictures to use as my screen saver! I am an almost happy girl right now, sugar! xoxoxox

Me too! Now that I'm gainfully employed again I hope to get back there some time next year. xoxoxox

Mum, this IS a Paris pic! Hee hee. It's the Pompidou Centre, halfway between Eric's place and the river.

Savannah, I'm so glad to have inspired some Parisian memories for you. xoxoxox

Was it Rogers or Foster who had a thing about putting services on the outside? There's a reason why we don't wear our guts on the outside and we can see it here.

Pea, it's totally impractical and rusty as hell but it's FUN!

I like the tubes!

I like tubes too! I think it's wonderfully wacky. You have to give it to the frogs, they don't mind to let it all hang out.

Dive, totally unrelated but I have a question: If you were a nice little square in London - or thereabouts - and wanted have some nice shade giving trees, what would they be? Not a park, mind you - they can get away with much messier stuff. That reminds me, are there horse chestnut trees in your neck of the woods?

I like the quirkiness of the Pompidou Center showing its insides outside. I keep thinking that music should sing out of the pipes, as if it's a giant organ. Festive music, not somber.

The three at the bottom remind me of the giant tube worms that live on the bottom of the oceans, near geothermal vents ... and look kinda scary.

They were a great band, Neetzy!
Darn it; now I'll be singing "White Punks On Dope" all day.

Yay tubes, Vanda! Hoorah for wearing your skeleton on the outside.
Yes, we have horse chestnuts over here. They make the first week in May glorious with their flowers. I love 'em.
In London we're stuck with planes and gingkos for street trees because of all the traffic pollution, but if they banned cars I would go for native species rather than decorative; the first trees to colonise us after the ice age were Scots pine, juniper, Oak, rowan, birch, bird cherry and field maple, so I'd go for those.

What a great idea, Ms.M! A giant organ! I think the French should be told.

You're right, Speedway. Wouldn't it be great if they shot out big, wavy, tube-worm fronds and ensnared passers-by for food?
