Hokay.
Old Dive is still missing.
I searched the house, the office and what remains of my brain for him but he's sneaked off somewhere, no doubt doing something furtive and unsavoury.
As soon as he gets back normal sweary service will be resumed but for now I am just posting crappy filler stuff like this.
Hey ho.
By the way, Katie wins yesterday's postbag contest.
Mikey and Prudence get honourable mentions for their impeccable morse code but Katie's braille pips them at the post because I like writing that comes in feely-bumps (I'm a nipple man).
As for a prize; we'll have to sort something out in Paris. It will probably be obscenely biological. Or a meal. Whichever you prefer.

Uh-oh …
Weird. Nothing on this end, either. Maybe it's a post-holiday blog lull.
'Obscenely biological'. What manner of 'gift' are you proposing for our dear Katie, Dive. We bloggers demand to know your intentions.
It's so frustrating, Robyn.
Oh, well.
Lynn: It's a line from the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy books.
I am "Mostly Harmless" (another one).
Your mind has become fevered by all this talk of Mister Darcy.
Oh are we back on Mr Darcy then.. good I do not do morse code anymore and I was well lost yesterday.. tee hee.. by the way your Bruv has got another cold he could do with cheering up!!!!
Tell him to go fondle his drums.
And if you want to play around with Darcy please do it over at Lynn's.
Weemen! Huh!
ditto.
xxooxxoo
Ditto to which part, Savannah?
Nipples?
Mister Darcy?
Drum-fondling?
Hee hee. xxooxxoo
Even though it took a little while for me to figure out your character post (I’m from California so I can be a little slow), I was surprised that no one else had come up with writing in Braille, especially since Monsieur Braille just celebrated his 200th birthday. For my prize, I think it will suffice if you buy me a few macarons in Paris, then we can stroll down rue Louis Braille. Do you think there are lots of bumps on that street?
My grandmother spent 20 years as a volunteer typing Braille text. She learned taking a correspondence course, and she also took a class learning how to do mathematics in Braille from the professor who came up with that system. My grandfather fashioned all sorts of strange tools for her to use for making the diagrams in the math texts to go along with what she could type using her 6-keyed Braille typewriter. I’m still in awe of all the work she did, and I know that she would be horrified that all I could come up with to write in Braille was LOL!
Macarons it is, Katie! And congratulations on winning the coolest comment competition.
And oh, what fun if Rue Louis Braille turns out to be cobbled!
Your Grandmother sounds amazing. I'm sure she would have had a chuckle at your ingenuity.
And I'm sure there are more fun ways to shock a grandmother.
C'mon Dive, it's been nearly a whole week without a guitar related post. Sure, the architecture and cookery posts are satisfying, but I'm always in need of some guitar porn and not just the visual stuff.
I'm on the verge of buying a real Gibbo Les Paul (I've come to the point of moving on from the Epiphones), so how about a post describing why American guitars are better for you (compared to the ones from the far east - be as personal as you like)? Your experience is always greatly admired in this field and this could be quite a controversial post in the making.
Hope you had a good festive period.
Well I might have tried harder had I known it was a competition! ... sulk.
Well done Katie...pout.
I am fevered indeed Dive. The dashing Mr. Darcy makes me so! Darcy talk is always welcome at mine. At the moment it's all Northanger Abbey though and I have not yet developed a crush alarming enough to warrant the smelling salts.
Lynn I had no idea it was a competition either! So you don't sulk, I'll send you some macarons from Paris when I'm there in October. I'll swing by your blog for some Austen-speak soon (since Dive gets upset when we swoon about Darcy here), but right now I've set aside P&P because I'm working on Petrea's competition, so I'm reading Dianne Emleys "The First Cut".
he he Katie no matter about the macarons. It's such a kind thought but I don't like almonds, marzipan, that sort of thing. Thank you so much for the thought though! lol x
Dive. How's the parking at Norwich station? My father has to attend a funeral in London so he will be doing a 'you' on Monday and travelling to Liverpool St. I think. Around 9 in the morning. Is it generally a nightmare or what? Any tips? Thank you.
Divers and varied apologies, Istvanski.
take care buying a Les; I've tried many hundreds over the decades and not one has felt or played anything like mine. The quality is variable to say the least. Try lots and don't worry about looks.
Oh, and as for US made guitars: I know I've got lots and they are uniformly excellent, but the best Strat I ever played was a Squier made in Mexico.
It's all down to personal feel.
Have fun shopping!
Lynn: Didn't you see the small print about the competition in the original post?
Weemen! Huh!
And yay! More macarons for Katie and Dive!
The parking at Norwich Station is fine at five in the morning but anything after six and he doesn't stand a chance. He'd do much better using the Park and Ride.
Katie: So you missed the small print too, eh?
I saw Petrea's competition and was tempted but I have such a book stack waiting to be read that I daren't add another one.
Hmm ok thanks Dive. Think maybe a taxi will be better to the stn. At 76 he's got all that travelling across London too! Thanks for the info, prob saved a lot of hassle on the morning.
He can always try the long stay multi-storey across the street, Lynn. That's where I park.
It ain't cheap but he'll probably get a space somewhere up top at nine o'clock.
It has decent lifts and doesn't smell too much of wee.
Of course if he catches the 5:40 AM he can join me and we can gossip about you all the way in.
Hee hee.
see? that shows exactly how out of it i am...*sigh* there was small print? a competition? a prize? xoxoxo
he he that would be fun wouldn't it Dive! I think he's going at 9 though.
What a "dotty" bunch of bloggers.
I've been out of commission for most of the week. I guess I didn't miss too much!
Savannah: There was no competition and the only small print was "…". I was just so impressed with the ingenuity of you all in replying to that "…" that I had to award something.
xoxox
Lynn: You have escaped a gossipy fate.
Neetzy: I've been out of commission, too. Hence the crap filler posts.
I'm glad you're back.
:) I am worry-free Dive. I have no skeletons and am sadly ungossipworthy. lol.
well, damn, sugar! y'all know how literal americans are! ;)
