America has done well to choose a new, very different, skipper.
It must now have the courage to reinforce its collective optimism with a revolutionary shift in values toward the common good: not only in theory (which is rarely as difficult as it seems), but also in practice (which is almost never easy as it seems). The rhetoricians will need to get their hands dirty, as will each and every American, if the dream of lasting change is to be realised as promised.
A very fitting post Dive. Hopefully we will see a new direction and some better results with President Obama at the helm. He will succeed.
ps Who better to announce the change than one Robert Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan. Bob was born in Duluth, MN and was raised in Hibbing, MN. He attended the U. of MN for a short time and used to play guitar and sing on the streets of Minneapolis hoping someone would toss a quarter into his guitar case.

Mark: I love watching early footage of the boy from Hibbing. I was listening to this and Masters of War and a whole slew of other stuff from the early sixties and it is shocking how relevant his lyrics still are today. I just checked and found I have 239 Dylan tracks on my iPod. Sheesh!
Shazza, PA has some problems with that, eh? No worries. I'm in good old VA. Prince William County, to be exact. We have a stunning reputation for racism as well. But as usual, it's only the idiots that get the attention. And we aren't ALL idiots.
