Underwater ironing is strange enough. Stranger still, however, is the fact that there already existed a record for such a thing! And yes, Dive, next to these lovable crackpots your "diving" exploits seem positively jejune!!!
BTW, regarding boxer shorts and tea towels, I'm with you on the crease-killing crusade.
Weird? Nous? This from the country that elected a talking monkey called George as President? Twice! And you couldn't even be bothered to find a talking monkey that could string an intelligible sentence together. THAT'S weird, young Robyn!
This...is...um...OH MY. I literally can't form a sentence! Well, aside from these small partial ones, of course. Huh. I thought I was a champion time waster. They really...wow. Who thinks of these things and then forms a group and DOES THEM?!! :D Thanks for that.
I think a lot of it is alcohol-fuelled, Shan. Any activity that involves the English and Australia getting together usually involves getting very, very drunk.
Ah, nothing like a little friendly rivalry between the Brits and the Aussies. Especially drunken underwater ironing. Lucio any chance you'll join the fun and help win the award back from England next year?
I'm not a big fan of ironing generally. I have a professional-grade German iron and a fancy Italian ironing board and I ignore them both. So much for my efforts to improve international relations.
This from the country that elected a talking monkey called George as President? Twice! And you couldn't even be bothered to find a talking monkey that could string an intelligible sentence together. nope, doesn't work anymore, sugarpie! i know you really, really like us! ;) xoxoxoxoxooxx
Dive: I've always understood, but never played along with, the rivalry between England and Australia, which continues to intensify as the notion of the former being "the mother country" fades for residents of the latter.
Then there is the shame associated with the English having been invaders of this country, rather than merely colonisers. ...
Personally, I believe in the principle of knowing your history but not living in the past, and think of England/the English as another precious jewel in our global community. And, like it or not, we will have to start thinking of ourselves in this way if we are ever to solve the crises confronting us. Another explanation for my views on the subject is that I am not a cricket or rugby fan - and, with any luck, never will be. A contest involving submarine household chores is more my style.
Katie: Only after I've finished my underwater dusting, vacuuming and cooking.
Pah! These people are so weird; I've seen them before. They're even weirder than you ironing your underpants, Dive. Ok, if they're thin cotton ones, then yes, they require a crease-free finish, I'll grant ye. If they're hamster-hiders though, I mean, what's the point? Please tell me you don't iron those? In fact please tell me you don't wear those? In fact, I don't mind telling the others here... I KNOW you don't. Ha! So there. Gossip away. :)
Katie: I don't think Lucio or myself has the competitive edge for the harsh world of extreme ironing. As it is he is doing a splendid job fighting a one-man battle to rid Australia of the Les Patterson, cultural desert image. Yay for Lucio!
And you should have bought Allied ironing implements; the Axis powers never worked together very well.
Savannah: Shh! Don't tell everyone! xoxoxoxoxox
Lucio: We do love to invade countries, teach them our sports and then let them beat us. The sooner Australia becomes a republic the happier I will be.
Lynn: EWW! Gross! Only mousatachioed seventies porn actors, footballers and the type of spotty teenager who thinks the Lynx ads are documentaries wear budgie smugglers. Like the kind of girl who thinks "tanning salon orange", a "Romford Facelift" and split crotch knickers are the height of style and sophistication (Hi, Kelli). Eww, eww and eww again!
Neetzy: Send 'em over. Or better still bring them over and have dinner while I iron and fold them.
Katherine: Unfortunately, my name is not derived from the extreme ironing fraternity. The true tale is hidden deep in my archives.

Tee Hee.. did they get the electricity from the electric eels????
Hee hee.
Haha that’s awesome. Do you iron your underpants too? Sometimes I get these weird tendencies to... (shhh)

I'm afraid I do, Dot, but feel free to give in to your weird tendencies and come over and iron them for me.
Hee hee.
Lucio: It seems to be the only thing we can beat you guys at.
Hey ho.
You people are weird.
And Alifan, you win!
Weird?

I'll send over my next basket of freshly washed underwear. Do they fold underwater as well? That's a job I would gladly farm out!
HA HA HA HA HA HA! That was great! Thanks for the laugh, Dive. Is that where you got your name?
I'm sure I've seen another form of extreme ironing...no, hang on...it must've been that arthouse film that someone gave me by mistake.
