In which Michael (seen here helpfully locating the bar in a local club) gives it some Van Morrison style shouty vocalising and we all miss the ending. I can picture us grinning like fools and looking round at one another, shrugging and going "What the hell … Let's just wind it down."I'm playing the strat on this one, which should be fairly obvious if you've been paying any attention these past fifteen weeks instead of looking out of the window.
So … Another Cheese Mechanics racket. An inexplicably funky and predictably crappy-ended version of "Since You've Been Gone."
A quick note to Sassy, who has been recaptured and returned to Blogville after six months on the run: for the last fifteen Thursdays I've been posting some crappy old songs from my archives (no professional or copyrighted stuff, just random crap recorded at old gigs).
To punish you for running away, click on the "Let's Make A Racket" link and start with Racket Number 1.
And don't laugh at my ponytail.

OMG I'd forgotten it was Thursday! I listened and was surprised a bit because Mike doesn't look like his voice sounds, if you know what I mean. Somewhere he forgot the lyrics though and it sounded like a broken record.
The "strat" sounds very different from "old les". I think the piece would have been terrific without the electric piano if that is what it was. Tended to drown out the guitar I thought. The sax was nice though.
Not the best I've heard but still pretty damned good my dear friend.
Thank God for Thursdays .... [bow head in prayer now].
that was FUN, sugar! toe tappin, hip swingin, juke joint fun! ;-) xoxoxox
Hee hee, Mme.
I can just hear Michael's laugh when I tell him about the "forgotten lyrics"! Though he may well growl a bit if you tell him his piano is too loud.
Thanks, Savannah. We were a great band for crappy song endings.
xoxox
Thursday just wouldn't be Thursday without a little racket. Thanks again, Dive.
And welcome back Sassy.
A particularly shambolic racket today, Robyn.
And it sure is good to hear from "Auntie" Sassy.
Ah Thursday morning; time to wake up my obnoxious downstairs neighbor who honks on his sax (poorly) on a regular basis with some REAL music! Well, hard to blast him out of bed with the speakers on my iBook, but I'll try. If I close my eyes I can almost imagine being in a dark bar, drinking warm beer and resisting the temptation to dance in public. Luckily I'm in my own place and can groove all I want!
I can never get the damn OVi thing to work on my pc. What's up with that?
Sassy's back?
Groove on, Katie. Never resist the temptation to dance in public!
Rich: I have no idea, but it's probably better for your ears if you can't hear it.
Yup. Pop on over to Sassy's place. Something's alive over there.
That had a fun little beat Dive. I like that cast it out real it back in rhythm. Oh dear it took me two tries to spell rhythm. I think I'm losing my musicality. Wait, no there it is behind me.
I like how Michael is all New Orleans while he's singing and then the Brittish accent kicks back in when he's not. teehee
Cheers, Shan. Michael is indeed the quintessential Englishman.
This is the best version I've heard so far, what does Ritchie Blackmore know anyway?
The Strat sound always cuts through on the funky numbers - the ending wasn't bad at all. You're just a perfectionist.
Hee hee. The ending wasn't THERE at all, Istvanski. It was a shambles.
But one good thing about the Cheeses was that we didn't give a fuck.
The strat sounded good, though. Well it sounded "stratty", anyway.
Ritchie Blackmore, eh? Sheesh, that makes me feel old.
I remember taking Machine Head and Made In Japan to school when they first came out, then a few years ago I decided to look for Made In Japan on CD and there it sat with "30th Anniversary Edition" written on the cover.
That was so depressing.
Sigh …
How old is he now? He must be well over a hundred.
I'll be back to check out this music later...have to go pick up Liv at swim practice, but then...Bing will be home this afternoon and I know she will want to hear it as well....
In fact, she is playing keyboards right now, making me laugh with her imitation of Eddie Van Halen doing "Jump."
Oh, that was lovely. I just sat there with my eyes closed and slip slided all over in my head.
Thank you.
Bless you, Maria. Living with Bing as you do, you know how much I treasure any pleasure my crappy old music gives to you.
