Hey ho. It's the fourth of July and the Colonials are revolting.
Not being in the least bit resentful, curmudgeonly or wishing to offend in any way, this grumpy old man from the Mother Country will join in the celebrations with a little sing-song to remind me of the consequences of said Colonial revolt.
Happy Fourth of July to any damned Yanquis out there!

I don't know what the YOu Tube thing is, but do you really hate Americans this much? It always sounds like it.
Lynn, you really must get yourself a working computer.
Or for a cheaper option, go buy Jarvis Cocker's last album and play the hidden track right at the end.
From me to the Mother Country: some day I shall visit you Mother. And drop in on you too, Old Dive! Hee hee hee!
I'm a yankee doodle dandy,
yankee doodle do or die
a real life nephew of my Uncle Sam
born on the fourth of July
I've got a yankee doodle sweetheart.
She's my yankee doodle joy.
Yankee doodle came to London
just to ride the ponies
I am that yankee doodle boy.
Katherine, you are more than welcome! Bring the family and let's have some fun.
Robyn: Hee hee!
Enjoy your party tonight!
Kant is still running the world? Huh? Is this a song about Kant’s Zum ewigen Frieden in which he asks for peace amongst the nations? What a nice thought for us all Dive! Oh wait, maybe I should watch the video instead of just listening to it; maybe I'm mishearing the lyrics. Maybe you're trying to rain on our parade! Hmm. All I can say, from the comfort of my bed since I don't have to go to work today, in my best Valley Girl voice, is "whatever!"
Hee hee, Katie!
Just for you I shall amend today's post!
it's ok, sugar...in your honor, we watched "V last night! xoxoxox
HE said the "C" word... that's not nice... shame on you.
Catchy little tune...but I'll still be singing grody to the max like totally all day.
I would have blissfully gone on thinking he was saying "Kooks" all that time if only I had looked away at all the right times. Oh the corruption from across the ocean! That's why we left you know! :)
I liked the quirky British homour(isn't that your spelling?) of the treehouse part in the beginning of that video.
he he do you really think i wouldn't have gone out and bought a new computer if i could have, before now, Dive? lol.
Hoorah, Savannah! What a truly great and inspiring movie that is!
Happy Fourth of July to you!
xoxox
Prudence: If it weren't true, we wouldn't sing protest songs about it. Sorry for the C word, though.
Shazza: Hee hee. Barf me out! Gag me with a spoon!
Shan: The lovely Jarvis Cocker is a true hero, as well as somewhat cute.
Lynn: Yes! The government are even GIVING them away, now! You don't have to have a Mac. I would still speak to you if you spent a few pounds on a crappy Windoze machine.
Go on … sell a child or a kidney … you know you want to OW! OW! OW! OW! Okay! I give in!
you're just jealous because we have "W"!!!!
Hee hee hee! You're probably right, Prudence.
Oh dear Dive. I just watched that video. Well, I'm sure he has a point but it was just a tad repetitive I thought.
On that topic, I had a look at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation website. Very impressive. Now there's a rich boy who seems to have become, well not a socialist but a philanthropist. I quite like his idea of wealth redistribution. Take a look. It won't hurt.
He's just trying to buy his way out of Hell, but the man who gave the world Microsoft and Windoze would need to completely eradicate poverty, disease and crime before they ever let him up into Purgatory, Mme.
It's a start, but he has a LONG way to go.
Hee hee, Maria: I concur fully with your friend. American attempts at decorum always tend to come out as Kitsch. It is sweet of you errant children to try, though … OW! Stop hitting me!
