Holy Crap! He's HAPPY!

Hokay!
It's Friday night and I'm feeling perky.
Something strange happened today. I feel fit as a fiddle and happy and healthy for the first time in months.
Lethargy Boy got a kick in the ass and has spent the day sprinting all over London and up and down hundreds of stairs without even getting out of breath.
And we're off motor racing for the third weekend in a row, which is fun, fun, fun for the saggy old man who never grow'd up.

So, as I've got a head full of nuthin' and a nice chilled glass of Gewurztraminer, let's celebrate the weekend with a couple of spiffy songs.

First up: As it's Mister Moose's birthday over at Savannah's place, here's a wonderful video he posted a while back but which has since disappeared as he has renewed his blog.
Watch and learn.

And here's one of my favourite protest songs of all time. Weel and myself used to hum this whenever our old boss walked in the room.
Mavis, Pops and the girls giving it some serious righteousness.
Pops can write a lyric that cuts the bullshit clean away and smacks you in the face with the truth.
I love it!

Hey! I like that protest video. So you're off to another playful weekend. Just don't forget about next Saturday. We need to talk ingredients!

YIP for happiness! It is weird how emotions good or bad can come out of the air without control sometimes. The happy is always worth a clappy!

Have you really not heard of feed readers for your blogs? You would quite enjoy setting up one if that is the case. Mine is connected to my email and it puts a dot next to the blogs I have listed which have new entries. It also puts "updated" on it when the blog writer edits a post. I know there is a certain amount of checking the comments that goes on in this group but it is handy for checking in on less frequent bloggers. One of the main one's is google reader and I don't even know what mine is called. It's handy though.
You don't seem like a fellow that always enjoys "handy" things (considering your daily commutes), but it IS nice to see fresh posts lighting up like hot muffins in the sidebar.
Enjoy your new hobby of car looking!
I liked the videos!

Thought it about time I 'dived' into your comment box after seeing you on so many other blogs. Lovin' the music too.

Lethargy Boy, give me your secret and get me off the couch and rid of this headache!

Awesome protest song. I want it on my blog. So timely here in our D.C. Metro area.

Hey Dive! Happy Friday night greetings from LA! So glad you've ended the week on a happy note! I'm having a total blast and look forward to sharing more when I get back. Have a fabulous weekend!! Oops, gotta to, the Apple Store is closing in 3 minutes!!

Joy, I can't wait! My tastebuds are already bouncing around like overexcited two year olds.

Hey, Shan. Yay for feeling good!
Aha, so that's an RSS feed! Thank you for enlightening me. I spend far too much time loitering about the interweb as it is, so having one of those would only make it worse.
Besides, I like just casually wandering around blogville and when I find a new post it's a nice surprise. Even when people haven't posted it's fun to trawl their comments boxes and see what the local gossip is.
Blogville's a small and friendly village and an RSS feed would be like having CCTV. I'll happily stick to my old-fashioned ways.
I'm so glad you liked the videos. When the guy came along with the I love Jesus teeshirt I wondered what you might think. Even though Muslims don't regard Jesus as the Son of God, they revere him as a prophet and try, like you and me to live by his teachings. Which can only be a good thing.

Hi, Cabacuri! I'm glad you found me on a happy day. Things can get pretty darned sweary and ranty around here!

Katherine, my favourite poet! I wish I knew what made me feel so good yesterday. This morning I woke up as usual feeling like the world had crapped in my head and had spent the night removing my bones and replacing them with pain.
Bleagh!
And Ick, too, for good measure.
Isn't that song utterly wonderful? And yes, as relevant today as it was at the height of the Civil Rights movement. Hoorah for The Staple Singers. Try to get hold of the original single (or download it) as Mavis sings it even better. It's a glorious song that has stayed in my head since the seventies and I'm glad of it.

Hi, T!
England's general direction is down the shitter at the moment. Which is pretty much where all ale ends up, so cheers!
Yup, I was CAPS happy yesterday. I'm glad it was just a general sense of health and well-being, though. When I get sudden euphoric happiness I can be sure that I'm about to get a visit from the black dog and a period of deep depression. Thankfully, that's been kept at bay for a while now.
Enjoy your beer. Beer is our friend.

Kate: I'll pop on over and do my best to answer it. Please allow me a couple of minutes to finish this coffee and throw on some clothes.

Katie! Yay! Live from LA!
Glad to hear you're having such a great time. Be careful in the Apple Store. I spent all my money in the London One.
Enjoy every last second of your time in LA. We'll look forward to seeing you Sunday (though I'll be at Silverstone watching racing cars so I may be a little late joining the party).

Ok Dive,
I was just going to say "I liked the videos" and leave it at that, but since you said you wondered what I thought of the video...
It IS wonderful to model ourselves after Jesus and I am all for that t-shirt! But the real difference is in believing that he is the one and only way to salvation. This is a key element in my Bible and I can't overlook it. He was not just a beloved prophet but the son of God. God in human form. He never sinned. God sent himself down in the form of Jesus to pay the price for our choices. And it covers it all! All we have to do is believe and ask him into our hearts in the form of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will help to change us by giving us guidance in our choices if we are willing to listen. It's a comforting voice, a guiding voice and a yes, a correcting voice.
The problem is this world is too distracting for us to hear that loving voice sometimes and even people who are saved forget to act like Jesus.
And yes, Allah is definitely another name for God but there is only one path to him and Satan has confused it for many people.
I don't want to disrespect others by saying these things but I can't join into the "it's all good" theory just to be PC. God loves us all but "No one comes to the Father but by Me(Jesus)" John 14:6, is an important piece of the puzzle. And such an easy one at that.
It's the whispering voice of the Holy Spirit that makes me be so persistent with you and the other fine people that happen to read this as well.
That's my WHOLE take on the matter, Dive. Just so you know. ;)

Cool! I love it when you write from the heart and soul, Shan.
I do remember that absolute faith and the comfort and completeness I felt that sprang directly from it. It's still the missing piece as you know, but rest assured I will keep on looking for it.
I still get little traces of it. John 14:6 is a favourite of the folk who put scripture posters up in train stations and it greets me at Colchester station every morning when my train stops right in front of it. And yes, I do sometimes sigh because I once knew it to be true and now I'm not sure any more.
I could say "I know it to be true" these days but it would be a lie so I tell truth: I lost my faith and I would like it back, please. I read the Bible more now than when I had faith, but at the moment it is just a fascinating historical document for me. One day I hope to get that flash of realisation and absolute knowledge again.
Until that time, like Muslims, I can only try to live by Jesus' teachings.
And to listen to my Christian friends do their best to help me, for which I am genuinely thankful.

Good for you Dive for posting these. Both videos are very good teaching aids; and although one is more recent, they both have a similar theme - oppressed minorities in the land of the free. We live in such a complicated, phobic world but I think the world has always been that way; there is hope though - take a peek at my blog when you have time.

I just read Shan's comments and your response to her. I'm not peeking into someone else's purse but it feels so good to read this. God is truth and there was truth from both of you. As Shan says, sometimes we have to listen to the voice (or read it) and recognise it for what it is. I am like you Dive, my faith is sometimes weak and I keep reading the Bible and praying that it will be stronger while my intellect argues about the 50 million years of human existence and only 2,000 of Christianity. Then I read your words and you articulated for me what I was feeling. I guess I'm just a bit confused or else old Nick has a grip on my ankle.

I'm Unitarian Universalist. I take what I need from the Bible and respect what others believe as well. But I can't say I torture myself over my own doctrines. Beliefs are works in progress and we should be nicer to ourselves, I think.

I've been so busy the past few days that I've not had the time to visit most people's blogs, let alone check back here in my old posts, so many apologies, Mme and Katherine.

You are both so tolerant of me and my rants, for which I am extremely grateful. I do love it when people take the time to write something from the heart and the two of you exemplify that perfectly.
You are both wonderful.
