Three-Way Blog Collision

Yesterday morning, Waterstone's bookshop coffee-bar hosted a three-way, breakfast-time blog collision between Norwich Daily Photo, The Monkey God and Old Dive.

Phil (latte), you know, and you met Joy (fruit juice) last week, but today - kicked out of bed at an unearthly hour - we are joined by the unfeasibly young and handsome Thom (Earl Grey).

Poor old homebody Dive had to endure the three of them swapping tales of tropical paradise holidays (yes, Jules; you came up, too), and the fact that Joy and Thom are soon off to the Philippines for Christmas, and Joy had to endure Phil and Dive pointing at America and laughing. All jolly good fun.

Joy and Thom are splendid company and after breakfast we hit the Christmas Market to take hordes of blog photos and to heap abuse on the French.

Geese Is The Word

(Go on … sing it … You know you want to).

Norwich has a better class of street litter than most cities. Someone appears to have discarded a large, marble brain in the plaza beside St.Peter Mancroft.
We took loads more photos but those will leak out when we are short of blogging material.

What I want to know (see the last photo) is how Joy can wear open-toed sandals in sub-zero temeperatures?
Brrr …

Have a great holiday, you two.

What better way to have breakfast than blog collision. And like my own blog collision breakfasts you naturally end up talking about well, bloggers.

I want one of those geese.

Blog-bitching is such huge fun, Kate. Hee hee.

The geese? I'll see if I can persuade them to fly south for the winter.

Tell them to fly to the river. Jory pup eats ducklings for breakfast. And apparently he eats my kitchen floor when we leave him at home for the weekend

Mmmm … Kitchen floor …
Deeeelicious!

Dear 'Poor old homebody Dive',

I think that Marshall McLuhan may have had the answer to your question, Dive.
You simply need a happy medium !
There's definitely a message in there somewhere.
When you sleep on it, you might see a direction. Cold toes, tropics, air tickets, tropics, brain, tropics...
This a really hard conundrum; I sure can't work it out either.
Now, where DID I leave my shirt ?

I think I might need your moral support, Dive.
Just pop over to Lynn's Saturday post, if you get a spare second or 2, svp.

I've not been away on holiday since 1994, Monsieur B.
Some stupid "sensible" part of my brain always finds something more important to spend the money on.
Which is fine most of the time, until I share the breakfast table with the Jet Set.
I'm now off to Lynn's to offer my support.

M.Benaut said...

Dive, old son, that's serious.
Perhaps Jules and some of our antipodean blogger mates had better dangle something serious.
Select your poison !

Oh, and thanks for your support 'round the corner.

It's not so bad, Monsieur B.
I live in a beautiful place that people come to for their holidays so all I need to do is put on some shorts with long socks, sandals and a bad shirt, hang my camera around my neck and wander down to the river, gawking like a Yank.
Instant holiday!

But can you talk 'real loud' with an Atlanta; Georgia accent,,, and keep it up ?
Think of this as only one question !

Actually i too am still wearing flip-flops. I get so thoroughly spoiled by their comfort in the winter i can't leave them off so yes i leave the house in scarves, hats, wraparounds and...flip flops. Sometimes.
Isn't he unfeasibly handsome yes! ~Gosh.
So glad you collided happily. I'm going to be round that table, i am, i am, i am.

Monsieur B: One of my habits - when among suitably minded friends - is to wander round museums and galleries making crass statements in a loud American accent.
Great fun it is, too. The English glare at us but are too reserved to tell us to shut up. Hee hee.

Lynn: young Thom is indeed unfeasibly handsome. With his Hugh Grant hair and his face by Michelangelo I almost fancy him myself. Hee hee.
Sorry, Thom! You know I don't mean it, but I think you have woken something startling in our Lynn.

When blogs collide over here we only talk about how lovely our fellow bloggers are . . . and penis size . . . I mean music. What else?

What fabulous images of sartorial splendor you two evoke in us natives.
How we lust to return to the Motherland and relish in the fine examples our forebears have handed down to you; the contemporary custodians of taste, discrimination and style.
Bobbies on every corner, directing traffic in pith helmets, gentlemen in Saville-Row double breasted 3-piece suits and ladies apporting large bags and hat boxes with French designer names on them. Hats with hat pins, and brooches; and Scottish folk in their kilts with amethysts and sterling silver brooch chains.
Men walking tall and straight, slowly, in pairs, with both hands behind their backs.
Oh to be in England once more !

Fresh: You girls have penises? I always knew there was something weird about America.

Monsieur B: I do indeed fess up to walking the streets of London with a long dark overcoat, a rolled up brolly and a briefcase. I do not yet have the requisite bowler hat, but my receding hairline may soon force me to remedy that situation.

I couldn't stop laughing! But you're not the first to say that Thom kinda resembles Hugh Grant. :D

It was a very enjoyable Saturday morning - a good reason to get up at that ungodly hour. Would be terrific if Lynn can join us.

My feet are actually happy wearing flip-flops. And to be honest, it was sorta warm under my coat. I sleep with the window wide open!

One of these days, you're gonna have to swing by the Philippines. I'll take you scuba diving!

You did indeed make a good choice in Thom, Joy. And he in you, of course.
Scuba diving in the Philippines sounds wonderful.
And one day we WILL get Lynn to the coffee shop; we've been trying long enough.

Nice brain. And I like the geese--so much more sophisticated than the American geese that where close and dress like Elvis.

I like your "geese in drag" Robyn. They're kind of cute in a kitsch way.

I wanna visit. I know of nowhere in America where you can go to such a lovely little place on a weekend morning and not have it teeming with humanity all bawling for their vanilla lattes.

And large marble brains just sitting around. It would be lovely.

Jules said...

Ahhh now it makes sense - my ears were burning but i just thought it was from all that WARM tropical air wafting thru the palm trees and onto my head - hee! hee!

What fun!!!

dive said...

You're more than welcome any time, Maria.

Jules: All the tropical talk made me so jealous. One day I might get there … one day.
