Graaargh!
It took me five hours and twelve minutes to get to the office this morning, because a fire alarm went off in the main signalling room at London Liverpool Street Station.
I just checked the train website and now (as it's a slightly breezy day) all the power lines have blown down at Ingatestone (yet again) so I'll be lucky if I get home at all tonight.
Arse!
At least when I got in I found that Angela (bless her) has installed a nice, shiny new Mac Pro, pimped to the max for me to play with.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee …
It's got two DVD drives.
Why on earth would I want two DVD drives?
As they're too high off the desk to be of practical use as a cup holder, I'm thinking of putting a pot plant in the one I don't use.
No time to write anything else as I'm desperately trying to make up for all the time lost on the poxy train.
Hey ho.

Five hours to get to work?
In the words of Princess Di "I'll never complain again."
P.S. - where do you stay if you can't get home and do you charge it to british rail?
For copying?
Hope you make it home for the weekend.
it is friday, sugar! i hope your weekend is lovely and delicious ;-)
Crikey, Dive, that's over the bloody top, old son !
Can't we get the buggers to shift the office a bit to the right ?
British Rail sounds like an oxymoron; gosh, the world's full of 'em.
Kate is right, - you need to sleep over at the office.
Your commuting routine is a little demanding to say the least, mein Freund.
Nevertheless, the macbookpro sounds orright 2me.
I am sure that you will find something to insert in the slot. Even though, in French, a computer is masculine!
(Shit happens !!)
By the way, if you don't get home for the weekend, it may be quicker to come to Australia. It's probably better than Brit Rail travel.
Sometimes your life sounds hellish, my friend! Hang in there! : )
Hope you get home alright. But hey, what's the worst that can happen eh? You could spend the night in London. :D

Hmm. What to put in the slot? I have that dilemma all the time.
Vic: you've made my evening. Thank you!
Sorry folks: Five hours to get to work and almost as long to get home.
I'm now home, aching and pooped and way too grouchy to respond properly so I'm going to bed with a bottle of scotch.
See you tomorrow …
I think that on Saturday morning there had better be a fair bit of scotch left in the bottle, otherwise we will be in for the rounds of the castle !
Dive, I suppose you couldn't work four, ten-hour days rather than 5 x 8hrs ?
Buggar, bum, bitch - you need that outrigger of mine - you could whiz down the Thames at the speed of sound (well..... very fast) and be there in minutes!!!
I was about to say I hope you get home, but then I decided to read the comments--so you did get home. Have you ever been forced to stay in the city over night?
I think the only time I have ever heard the phrase "a pox on..." was in It's A Wonderful Life. A great phrase.
Holy shit. FIVE hours??? And I complain if I have to drive downtown (about a half hour drive) to meet a client.
I might actually LIKE staying at a hotel now and then, though.
I never get to be the hotel staying woman. Bing travels now and then for her job and she has the audacity to complain about hotels...
I would LOVE to stay in one. I think I need a vacation....anywhere where there is NO snow.
Pot blank in the spare DVD drive looks like a great option. Do avoid cacti though, if you want to keep easy access to the other slot.
Monsieur B: These days I always fall asleep after a couple of scotches. Hey ho.
Jules; Your outrigger would look so cool in my local river.
Robyn: I did indeed get home. And thank you for reminding me of the one movie I never miss at Christmas.
Maria: I hate hotels. I can't sleep in London. It's a filthy, noisy shit-hole at night. I like to sleep in my own bed.
Nathalie: Hee hee. Splendid advice. Thank you.
