The Scientologists opened their big new Cult Central in London last month and today we learn that the Met are under investigation for accepting waaay too much hospitality from them.
That's "the Met", as in London's Metropolitan Police … Scotland Yard …
The guys tooling around this city carrying sub-machine guns are suspected of being under the influence of the Cruise/Travolta nutjob posse.
Just thought I'd better get that straight.
And the fourth most senior plod in the squad actually spoke at the big cult opening …
I'm thinking maybe it's time to get the hell out of Dodge.
While my mind reels from that horrorfest, it's time to wave bye-bye to the lovely Robert Altman.
I'm going home to watch a M.A.S.H. and The Player DVD double bill tonight. I suggest you do something similar to honour the man.

I was so sad to hear about Robert Altman. I really loved his films. Why couldn't it have been Tom Cruise?
Beck's a Scientologist. That thought depresses me.
On an upnote, my mom probably won't invite any Scientologists to Thanksgiving.
After Donna, I wouldn't be so sure …
We don't do Thanksgiving over here, but I'm going to watch Addams Family Values tomorrow out of solidarity (and to see Christina Ricci burn the pilgrims' village … hee hee).
Christina Ricci is creepy. How's that for an intelligent comment.
The Scientology connection is very odd. Imagine if the CIA got all tangled up with that "church." Boston Legal (I show I adore because the key figures are absolutely despicable) did something on their freakishness a few weeks ago. Very funny and very bold.
I believe I'll start typing with a dictionary along side because I seem to have lost my ability to spell.
Christina Ricci was brilliant as Wednesday Addams.
If only she'd grown up like that …
Ah, well … (sigh) …
You and your attraction to scary women. I can't fault you though. I have an odd thing for Robert Duvall. He can be very creepy.
dive, dive, dive, dive. You're glib.
Maybe it's just because I love John Travolta and his big meaty face, but I don't find him particularly obnoxious about his devotion to the Thetans. He seems to keep it mostly to himself unless he's asked about it, and, as far as I know, he's never kidnapped any young actresses and forced them to give birth and wear flats. I mean, sure, Battlefield Earth, but we are talking about the same guy who also starred in Michael and Moment by Moment, so, you know.
"Blinded by Science"!! where have I heard that before
Oh come on, Dive. In Buffalo 66, she was amazing.
Off to New Hampshire, now. Wish me luck.
For me, Travolta is Vincent in Pulp Fiction, I really don't think much about the man's own life.
Vincent is there whenever I watch the film, and the same goes for Altman - his characters will love on in his films.
I think it's a deep need within us that something of us should live on after we go. Very few achieve it, though.
Robert Duvall's great, Robyn, and I'm sure he'd be delighted to see your odd thing.
Hey, T.O.G., I'm a great fan of Travolta …
I mean … Vincent Vega? What's not to love?
I even watched Battlefield Earth when it came on TV. Hilarious!
You'd have to trawl my archives to find out about my cult encounter, which should explain a lot …
And Rich: one set of people I don't want to see blinded by Scientology are the guys with the handcuffs and guns I walk past every morning … Brr.
Sassy: She may be a good actress, but she's not Wednesday any more, and the world is a sadder place for it.
Good luck with Thanksgiving. I sure hope the chihuahua people don't turn up again …
..er... thanks, Blogger / Google, whoever you are. I thought that "This blog does not allow anonymous comments" meant that you needed to log in properly - not just accidentally type your real name in to the fist box and hit return!
For Shiela, read Peahen. That was me. I'm Spartacus. No, I'm.... etc.
Hi, Pea.
You commented while I was writing mine, so I missed you.
Yeah, Vincent is truly awesome, but JT does need to choose his films more carefully.
Some are great and some just grate.
You might describe his career as a "Royale with cheese" (ouch) …
.... and I meant to say 'live on in his films', not 'love on'. Jeez. I'm going for a gin.
I think they twigged that from my sidebar (Shiela's Meanderings) …
Rich I believe its a Robert Dolby song with magnus Pike, like you know who is was, smart man with long arms thats his life summed up.
Scientologists are the new Masons, you used to be able to get away with murder if you knew the secret handshake.
All this talk about Altman and Peahen it was Thomas Dolby.
Favourite Thomas Dolby line (from Airhead).
My friends think she's a dumb blonde,
But they don't know she dyes her hair.
Oh, oops; I was actually mocking Cruise's batshit crazy interview with Matt Lauer a while back. It didn't occur to me that you might not have seen it, filthy ethnocentrist that I am. The "you're glib" line was the thing that got the most attention, although my personal favorite moment was when Cruise accused Lauer of "being reasonable."
I don't even get much Brit TV, let alone any US stuff. I rely on you and the other blog folk for my news from across the pond.
Thanks for setting me straight.
Old Balls - you're pretty hip for an old timer. I'm impressed how you pulled up Robert Dolby like that.
Dive - do the Police carry Guns now in Britain?
Yup. Ever since 7/7, we've got used to the rather absurd sight of policemen with sub-machine guns and yellow safety jackets all over London.
The best one I saw was on 7/7/ itself, while I was wandering round the traffic-less streets after the bombs.
I heard the siren and looked up to see a plod on a BMX with a big prong at the back and a blue flashing light on top. He was pedalling like crazy down the middle of a deserted Queen Victoria Street with a Heckler and Koch strapped to his chest and a HUGE grin on his face like it was the most fun he had ever had.
I wonder what the Masons make of all of this Police and Scientology bizness.
"Beck's a Scientologist. That thought depresses me."
The same thing depresses me about Jason Lee.
