Wednesday Window - Seaside Cottage at Southwold

It's calming, almost like a bit of seacoast zen, white window, white curtain with the little piles of pebbles carefully placed to maintain interest - one here, five there, etc - and serenity.

Thank you, Dive, for catching the little scene that would otherwise be un-noticed.

I'm afraid I am very much the kind of person who walks past stuff like this, does a double take and says "Ooooh! Pretty rocks! Looky!" and reaches for my camera while my companions roll their eyes.
Their loss.

I walk past so much. Then I kick myself. On other days, I'll say "wait 'til 5, it's too early" or "come back on a sunny day, too flat today." I've been watching the 2 bldgs a while. Took the picture Saturday, then of the scaffolding to pair w/the bldgs. I almost laughed out loud when I looked under my feet at saw the grid. I didn't realize 'til last night how much they were all related.

I love the idea of you stalking those buildings, watching them until the light was right. Too cool.
I missed a great sign a few weeks ago through not having my camera. It was a home-made one at the end of an alley that said "LOOK OUT! CYCLISTS COMING!" and I laughed my fat ass off. By the time I got back there the following week with my camera someone must have pointed out the double meaning because it now reads (boringly) "WATCH OUT FOR CYCLISTS".
Shame on them!

Haha! I saw a sign earlier this summer when the temps were in the mid-90s and above and the light was just white it was so flat. It read SIGN WRITER'S BLOCK. Of course, when I went back the owners had changed it. Damn!

WV: xests = alien citrus peels

A pox on people with no sense of public humour. There is a deep joy to bad signage. Xesty, even.

Love the stones, love the white on white. I was chuckling to self while reading the dialog between you and Speedway. I never seem to have my camera when I find the real gems. I'll never forget, "Jeff's Dick Jockey Service". He had it up for about a week until someone notified him of the spelling error.

Neetzy, what's wrong with "Jeff's Dick Jockey Service?"

I love photos like this, dreamy, quiet, noticing the little things.
I also enjoyed the conversation between you and Speedway.
But darn! I haven't seen any amusing signs around here lately. I'll keep my eye out...
Neetzy, was it supposed to be "disk jockey"? :-)

Dick Jockey makes perfect sense.

This cottage is sold, by the way, I'm taking it.

Loved WTF Lundi, too!

Neetzy, the phrase "Dick Jockey" reminds me of Annelise's Perverted Vegetable Rodeo.
N.B. People, you should really pop across to Neetzy's blog and check out something startling.

Speedway: Hahahahaha.

Ms.M, good (bad) signs are few and far between. I always try to carry a camera since I missed the one about the fortunate cyclists.

Petrea, put the kettle on; I'm heading down to Southwold right now.

I love this photo. So airy and light.

And so many different shades of white. It would be a nightmare to do a painting of it.

Paint the shadows, Dive, all shades of blue yelloe and green. Paint the reflections, perhaps, of the water onits walls and youwill have a picture of the House.

I think I'll skip this one, Speedway; it would drive me crazy.
Actually it reminds me of a couple of Andrew Wyeth paintings.

Yes everyone! The poor disc jockey did not know how to spell and the sign: KEN'S DICK JOCKEY SERVICE was proudly displayed for a few weeks. I guess he thought it was a soft "c".

He'd get far more work if he left the original sign up.
