It's Friday already. How the heck did that happen? I swear it was Friday only a couple of days ago. Do they save these things up when I'm not looking and then leave 'em lying about to trip me up?
Anyhoo … who cares? It's Friday and almost time for weekend breakfast club.
And talking of breakfast, here's my favourite place for it on this or any other planet. That's the scrummy Clothilde (mmmmm … yes, I named a goddess after her in that 500 Words story) serving the butcher from across the street just before he opens for the day. This place is on Rue Montorgueil, the best food street in Paris. Clothilde doesn't make those croissants in house; she sends a girl running two doors down the street to Stohrer's, the oldest and finest bakery in Paris, and get's them fresh and warm.
Next time I head across the ditch to Paris you know where to find me at breakfast time. Come in and join me. Get there early.

This is such a packed photo. It would make a great 500 Word assignment, don't you think?
I think you could be right, Robyn. Go for it!
I would like to join you for breakfast one day, Dive. Croissant and coffee in Paris or a pork chop sandwich at the Fair. Paris would be the more exotic for me, but I couldn't wear my hippie-dippie dress dress.
Maybe if I just got up 5 hours early one day? I'd buy a couple croissant and get out my coffee press. You could eat one of those pink thingys from Beatrix.
Isn't it easier to make the Paris trip now with Eurotrain? Does work keep you from going?
A crème and a croissant at Clothilde's is frighteningly close via Eurostar, Speedway. Only the fact that I have to pay the bills keeps me from breakfasting there every day.
I rather fancy some State Fair fare, so the pork chop sandwich is very tempting, especially if it comes deep fried on a stick.
And of course you can wear your hippie-dippie dress in Paris. Where better to wear it than the fashion capital of the world?
What a wonderful spot and what delicious looking croissants and coffee. I'd like to pop right over. Probably can't join you on the 500 words thing as school starts in one week and all the procrastinating I've done all summer is paying off.
That looks like a fine, fine breakfast!
If you're looking for state fair food, the Idaho State Fair begins Aug. 19th. And it has plenty of fried fare, served on sticks as well as in paper wrappers.
Speaking of fair fare: I saw in the news that GOP Presidential Hopeful and Teabagger-extraordinaire Michelle Bachmann was treating herself to a foot-long corn dog at the Iowa State Fair this past weekend.... 500 words??
No problem, Neetzy. The week before the start of school is a nightmare for teachers even more than pupils.
Hahahahaha. Ah, thank you Ms.M. for an unforgettable image with which to start my weekend.
Hahahahaha, Ms. M! Actually, now I think I don't want breakfast.
But really, I'm so wistful for a croissant in Paris it hurts.
Me too, Petrea. No matter how good a croissant I can get locally there's something special about eating one in a Parisian café.
