It's pretty hard to miss this one. Plus of course, this window leads along the arcade to Digby's the hand-made chocolate shop so I tend to gravitate that way.
All of it is lovely, Dive. I like the colored tiles and the beautifully crafted copper roof. Obviously, no expense was spared in order to create all the beautiful colors and curved lines. *Sigh.*
When I looked at the picture, I realized I was imaging how the tiles textures and ridges would feel under my hand. Yesterday, at the fair, I was feeling the faint ridges still in the shaft of a jog-cart that was being made. There's nothing like it is there - the feel and finish of something shaped by hand, both useful and eye-pleasing,rather than machine?
If there were an Art Nouveau revival, would it be called New Nouveau?

Mmm, it's been a long time since I've seen it in the flesh. The lettering 'Royal Arcade' is really special too. Beatiful Art Nouveauness.

Ms.M, it is even lovelier inside, filled with bookshops, coffee bars, health food shops and unhealth food shops (my favourite chocolatier).
Mmmm … tactile tiles. You're right, Speedway, hand-shaped is best.
