Blogging Break Photo Filler 5

Today's Blogging Break Photo Filler is that photo of Breydon Water I took on my way to Japanese class a couple of summers ago.

Kinda peaceful.
Those were the actual colours; no filters or Photoshop; just weird pinkness.

And here are a couple of photos I took on my way to the coast yesterday morning.

This - together with Breydon Water above - is the scene Dickens was describing as his protagonist approached Great Yarmouth in David Copperfield.
It's pretty much unchanged since then … in fact for thousands of years; this road being built on a neolithic trackway.

One of the hundreds of windpumps that litter my local landscape
(click on these two; they blow up big).
This really is Big Sky Country - other than the sky there's bugger all to look at.

Norfolk is not flat … it's just that someone sneaked underneath our mountains one night and let all the air out.

Beautiful photos - especially the top one (which is amazing!). I like the flat - reminds me of the midwest (but then you also have the coast). Hope you're enjoying your blog break. I can't believe my vacation is now over and I have to go back to work. Just shoot me now.

Well hi there, new photo girl!
Your Montana photos were amazing, Katie. I'm glad you had such a good time.
Have a safe and hassle-free trip home.
Roll on your next vacation, eh?

You must take me to the spot of the first photo!

It's the big old drawbridge over the Yare as you approach Yarmouth, Joy. It's a pig to stop a car there, though so better to park up in Runham and walk. You're pretty much guaranteed a good view, whatever the light.

Wind bump is a nice phrase. Is that a windmill in the last photo?

And I think I remember that first photo from before—wasn't it shown to describe why someone was so disturbed at how flat that part of the world is? I would love to be able to see the horizon. Here, there are too many hills to obscure the view of what's ahead(big wind bumps).

Windbumps! Hee hee, Robyn. I love it.

That's a wind PUMP, not a bump or indeed a windmill … windmills grind corn for flour and windpumps drain the marshes so we can grow stuff to eat.
they look pretty much the same, though, except windmills are usually put at the the high point of a village and windpumps down at water level.

Yes, the first photo was originally posted when I described how Jillypig was freaked by her first sight of a real sky having lived in the hills all her life.
She burst into tears and had to cower under the train window so the sky wouldn't get her.
Hee hee.

OH, hee hee hee. I really need to start wearing my glasses when I read blogs. I still wish I could see the horizon.

I much prefer "windbumps", Robyn. That is what they shall be from now on.

darling, your filler posts are magnificent! thank you for the reruns. xoxoxo

My pleasure, Savannah. I think that's the first time in history that Norfolk's dull flat landscape has been called magnificent!
Hee hee.

Oh, but I'm a Midwestern girl. I find flat land a comfort. It's a great freedom to be able to see for miles, especially after having been pent up in the city.

I must admit, after a day in the city the wide open spaces are de-stressing.

The first photo reminds me of shots of Plymouth Harbor I took some time ago. Nice.

Thanks, Pilgrim. It looks a lot more like Plymouth behind where I stood to take the photo; the tall ships congregate there before racing so for a few weeks a year it is full of masts and rigging and folk in old-fashioned sailing garb.
Fun!
I'll try to get down there next time they're in port.

I prefer a lumpy landscape, myself - but pinkish panoramas can be wonderfully soothing.

Caspar David Friedrich would be proud of you.

The flat photos remind me much of my prairie. Maybe we aren't so far away from each other, after all.

These photos remind me of home! I'd swear I was in southern New Jersey. We have the flatlands, the marsh, the occasional pink sky and now windbumps!

I moved to a much bumpier place.

(Oh, and that pink sky is gorgeous!)
