Any excuse.
In this case, the flimsy excuse provided by answering Istvanski's comment in yesterday's post (and a guitar porn email from Prudence last night).
Sadly, Istvanski, I am retired from the world of the tour bus, the bad studio coffee, the dressing room tedium, the arguments over money, the musical differences and the car park blow-jobs, though I still retain the partial deafness.
I've not spent any of my well-earned groats on a guitar this millennium; it all goes on train fares (a little over £10,000 a year).
But I can never resist the temptation to post guitar pornography, so here's my PRS draped pertly and seductively across my bed.

I don't have many guitars these days, just a trusted few, including Old Les.
Please follow the sidebar all the way down to the link called "Guitar" if you'd like to meet them.

They don't have names (unlike the admirable Barnesy); they're just "Old Les", "The Strat", The Martin", The PRS", and "The Brown Fender".
Here are some of them relaxing in my little studio.

Well Dive, you could always become a train driver like myself (hey, free travel!) and then spend the extra cash on guitars.
Cheers for posting your PRS pics - I had a fucking good wank over them.
Always glad to satisfy, Istvanski.
Strangely, I did want to be a train driver when I was a kid. I wanted a big hat like Casey Jones on TV (shit, that makes me feel old).
You have more guitars that I have horns, but you can only play one at a time, so I won't be jealous.
Where did I hear someone say: stroke a woman like you would a guitar? :) I think that depends on the piece of music right?

FMD, Monsieur.
You must be pulling the wrong one,
Ten bananas par annum.
Crikey, that's molto roubles.
Mein Gott, mein Herr; Die ist eine Scheißeeingabe des Geldes.
FMD !!!
Are all those your guitars?
Joy - that's a good analogy -I'll remember that one.
You have two splendid horns, Robyn; but thank goodness they're not growing out of your forehead.
Joy: I've found that women seem to like a good finger-vibrato.
Monsieur B: Yup; that's pommie trains for you. Crap and way overpriced.
Rich: Hee hee. What a great line that is.
Any movie fans out there want to reveal what Rich is quoting?
It's Marti de Bergi asking Nigel Tufnell that question in Spinal Tap.
They certainly look relaxed. I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm stepping back a little bit now, with my fingers in my ears, quaking as i ask Dive, I'm wondering about selling my guitar so that i can buy a new laptop? What do you reckon, Dive? Should I? Ok duck now everyone....
Istvanski snatches the credibility points and goes all the way up to eleven.
Lynn: Only if you buy a Macbook Pro.
Your guitar is lovely and believe me, you'll regret selling it.
A laptop will need replacing every eighteen months (once a year if you're going to be seen out with it and not be a laughing stock) but a guitar is forever.
Hmm well i'm not worried about what people think of me (who said that, when and why? really, did they? ohhh)
but the Mac Pro - i wouldn't know how to use it would i.
You're right i would regret the guitar going, especially as it was a present. Oh i don't know! ............
Of course you know how to use a Mac, Lynn.
It's the same as your PC but with added little cries of "Wow! That was easy!" and "Cool! I didn't have to go through all the usual crap." and "Great! I don't need to worry about virus protection." and "Fuck, that's fast!".
Though you'll probably want to tone down that last one.
Hahaha! Have you been hearing that said a lot, Dive?
Rich: First time I heard it, I smiled.
Lynn: If I could afford a Mac, I would buy one. Unlike Dive who earns £120k a year, I can't. Once you've had a Mac, there's no going back to PC. It's also very intuitive so have no fear 'learning' how to use it.

Wow! If I earned £120k a year I'd buy you and Lynn a Mac each, Joy!
And I wouldn't be stuck travelling cattle class.
Sheesh!
I showed Bing your collection and am currently wiping the drool off of the computer keys....
She has three guitars and god help me, I have NO idea what they are. I know them as BB, Lilith and Jonesy.
And she even sat nodding over the comments. She hates any computer that isn't a Mac, says that people who don't have one are like people who insist on using the old telephones with cords and rotary dials. She says Macs take the frustration out of any computer problem mainly because they never have the quirks that you find in PC's, plus they are "intuitive" she says.
Oh...and I asked her about the finger-vibralto thing and she leered at me....
You are one lucky woman, Maria.
That's interesting,Joy thanks. If i ever am able, i might.
Dive that's a kind thought and it's the thought that counts!
Sigh... I don't even have one.
Lynn: I'm so glad it's the thought that counts because I am seriously crap at the deed.
Sassy: I hope we're talking guitars here.
Glad to see you again, stranger. I'm heading on over to your blog to see what you've been up to.
Dive, old son, Lynn has obviously been following the comments and Joy and Maria have validated your recommendation.
I can solemnly promise that I will never own a PC again; as long as I live.
I would post a photo of my old PC commencing "Learn-to-Swim" lessons in the Port River, but for the heavy metals in the thing and the Dolphins that live there.
My next computer may be a Mac-book Air. But I'm not sure how I would go without the DVD drive. They weigh almost nothing !
Your opinion would be valued, monsieur.
They look like crispy wafers! I'd be frightened of snapping it in two.
I'll be hanging on to the Macbook Pro for a few months yet but as soon as they do an überspec Air I'll ask IT for one.
I do like using the Pro for watching DVDs on the train but with fast wireless I suppose I can always stream stuff on the Air.
Ein überspec Air must be on the cards, so I wonder if it will happen.
Perhaps the Macbook-Pro will get smaller and lighter.
One thing's certain, they become cheaper as time goes by. We need an IT department like yours, mate.
$$$$$$$ !!
Yeah Air seems good.... ???? Uh? lol WAY over my head.
It's a Mac laptop as thin as a biscuit, Lynn.
oooh yum i NEED one!!!
I wonder if they'll do a special edition with chocolate chips instead of silcon?
Would love to own an Air, but for now, I simply have to be content with the thought of a new PC which Thom promised for my boitday! :D
So if not £120k, how much do you earn then, Dive? :D Enough to buy me and Lynn a nice dinner when she comes to visit?

Gosh Joy, i'm shocked you can ask about Dive's earnings! I wouldn't have the nerve. I might have the nerve to accept a coffee though, when i get there! lol I hope it'll be soon, i'm guessing around Easter time.
smirk outloud.
Guitar porn huh.
You reading my mind or peering in my windows?
Take a girl, some lingerie, a fan for wavy wild hair and a couple of guitars.
Add a camera.
Hmmmm, guitar porn indeed. :))))
I earn not quite enough to enable me to go visit my blogpals, Joy.
dammit!
Lynn: coffee and sticky buns await.
Kate: That sounds like you have a girl in mind.
Cool …
But nowhere near the fifty or so I got for my post about ironing.
Something's wrong with this picture.
Lynn: That's the beauty of the Internet :) I can ask him anything, and Dive can choose to ignore it or avoid giving me a figure :) I was just trying to see if he'll give us some indication. Hehe.
Dive: so no dinner then?

Coffee and sticky buns, Joy. Hee hee.
I don't really drink coffee, and I don't like sticky buns. So I think I'll pass. What about cooking something for us instead?
