M&S have put up a green wall on their spiffy new extension.
These things cost an absolute fortune to install and maintain and they could get the same effect with a couple of ivy plants.
Green roofs are great. I've put a whole load of those on buildings, but green walls are a royal pain in the arse and never last.
I'll keep you informed with increasingly sad photos over the coming months.

It must be hard to maintain a green wall, keep it alive if it mostly consists of plants that aren't usually planted vertically, and aren't vines.
I like the wall in front of the National Gallery. The couple in front of it look confused, like they've just stepped out of the green scene and are wondering where they are.
We have 2-3 green roofs in Indy that I know of: the Children's museum, the Indianapolis headquarters of the Nature Conservancy, and a new building on the IUPUI campus, currently being installed (I saw plants on the roof).

I really like the temporary one and I love the grand edifice behind it.
I'm with Petrea: Lucio, that made me laugh so damned hard the rest of the day will be a real let down.
Speedway, hee hee. We have lots of green roofs around here. It's a tiny island and an awful lot of it has been built on, so reducing run-off from impermeable roofs helps our overloaded drainage system and reduces flood risk.
Ms.M. they are tremendously hard to maintain, which is why they're mostly used for temporary screening like the one at the National Gallery covering up the scaffolding of some renovation work.
The couple in front of it were kissing like crazy until I got my camera out and then they just stood there, like "Oh, my god, did we just kiss? Eww!"
Petrea, it is a lovely edifice and a must for a visit when you're over here. It sits at the uphill end of Trafalgar Square so it's pretty hard to miss.
Sometimes the first thing that comes into my head can't be improved upon - at least, not by me. Glad it gave you a giggle, guys.
I saw the building when I was in London in 1999, but I didn't go in. And it looked different then. No scaffolding, and no green thingy in front.
