Ah, there's nothing like a good stoning to while away the afternoon …
Here's something I love about Norwich: Most cities have seats with little plaques on, saying things like "In memory of Ethel Crump, who liked to sit here and dribble." In Norwich, we have this:
I've always thought martyrs were bloody stupid, tell them what they want to hear and when you get away then thump the bible, God doesn't want to be surrounded by morons.
Yes it's a pleasant little reminder isn't it, as a young family sit there with their sandwiches and little Tommy's just learned to read... what a great lunch.
The more i think about this, the more odd i find it. Who on earth came up with this decision. "Yep, listen up everyone, what we're going to do is just tell it how it was. Random grisly stuff...no, no reason for it, we ... just feel like it. Upset some old ladies, that sort of thing. Written in contemporary font and jolly little wavy lines. Good. Action that then, Debbie."
Crikey, M. Dive We should set up a booth a few yards back and sell shanghais, replacement rubbers and old priest's habits. And one of those old fashioned deguerretype cameras on a wooden tripod to shoot the victims who live. I don't think I could stop laughing long enough to shoot anyone with much accuracy. Still, practice makes perfect!
Hee and hee again, everyone. Actually, the bench is part of the pedestrian precinct they have just put in St. Stephen's Street. The bench is one of a series about his life. I just thought I'd take this one out of context for a giggle …
Ha! Do i detect backtracking, Dive, Sir? Got images of enraged Norwich locals at your putting down their tribute (?) to St. Stephen. Eek! They might even stone you and erect a new bench.

And all he said was "That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah"
"Blasphemy! He said it again!"
"Are there any women here today?"
Yup. I'm gonna have to watch Life of Brian again …

Amazing photograph. Stunning message for all to read.
Hey look, and American president?
this is such an odd bench message--is it part of a series or just a random bit of information?

I've been stoned many times in Norwich, Lynn …

M. Dive,

I need to blog drunk! LOL!
Do I have permission????
Not bad for TGIF and 3 glasses of red, huh?

Think I'm becoming immune!
you better watch it Ame. you may have a black out and not remember what you posted.
Dive - just remember not to fart when you sit on that bench.
The curvy font makes it all seem okay somehow--like a good time was had by all.
