Look Up. Pt.7

I do like ridiculously overwrought ornamentation on buildings. The sheer pompous silliness of it makes me giggle.

This is the front of the ladies' shoes section of Jarrold's department store in Norwich. I like the over-the-top faience work.

I have no idea what all of the figures represent or what they are supposed to be doing.

On this one, a man appears to be showing a giant hat to a couple with a dog.
And on the next, two men stretch a third man's penis out to about three feet in length, while behind him another man beats an oven-ready chicken against the ground.
What this has to do with ladies' shoes is beyond me, but compared to out of town shopping in vast estates full of massive tin boxes, festooning buildings with elaborate silliness gets my vote every time.

The tragedy is that in the ten minutes I watched them, not one passer-by looked up to see the splendour just above their heads.
It was not until I stepped up and started taking photographs that people followed my eye.
"Oooh! Look!"
"Oooh! I never noticed that before."
"Isn't it pretty?"

Yes, look, you dumb bastards.
Get some fucking joy into your dreary, TV drenched lives.
Socialist though I am, I sometimes despair of the lumpenproletariat …

And thank you for Ellen's email, Prudence. Though as the CD is out in the next month I've decided to wait and get one with the artwork. I'll buy it direct from Bill's site rather than Amazon.
What's with the weather? It's snowing on you and too damned hot to move here!

Thanks Dive, well people are guessing at my blog, anything from 14 to 24. I think i'd do exceedingly well to stick to that, you reckon? lol.

Hey cobber, It's hard to think about dicks when it's Lynn's B.D.
How about we sit around in the (her) kitchen and scoff a few beers and work out about catching up in September when I get up there.
In the meantime, mate, Happy birthday and let's get over to Cheltnam? and ripper photos too.
I reckon she's upstaged us all, bloody wimmen !!!!
I'm definitely coming and I look nothing like Ame. Mme. will vouch for that, and i don't understand what your 13 inches refers to??? If you were Australian, then I would !!
