Looks like a metal Peregrine!
Somehow, I have the notion that sculptures are meant to soar, to look as though they have a life of their own and could walk away when they choose. This notion is certainly interrupted by the square pedestal supporting the sculpture, which would be greatly improved by having a base that echoed its shape. Otherwise, it looks like a shard of armor from a Transformer.
I rather like it. Somewhere there may be a counterpart: Hædless Dædalus.

I would guess those wings would not melt if the flyer flew too close to the sun. The piece is rather abstract, though. Icarus as a Transformer?
I think it has something to do with the fact that Dædalus was an architect, Ms.M. The office behind the statue is one of our rival practices and they may well have financed the thing.
