What got you started on Friday morning wood? Was it the driftwood?

This topic is endless, you know. Wood is everywhere. Toothpicks, stools, door frames...

It was the driftwood, Petrea. But you know me: any excuse for an easy day's photopost.

I love gnarly old trees, don't you? There twists and turns and scar, made over a century or more just tell stories we can only guess at.

That is cheerful to see, as it is pouring with rain outside, the blue sky is very nice…

Speedway, this tree sits by the motorbike park in front of City Hall with a pub one side of it and a church the other, so I imagine it has many a strange tale to tell.

Yup, rain, hail, thunder and gales and we're due frost at the weekend. I've a feeling the cherry trees will be trashed by the time I get there with a camera again.

That's a great gnarly tree; old trees have so much character.

As I get older I appreciate a good gnarl all the more.
