Phil bought a bunch more ludicrously expensive cymbals last weekend so on Friday we decamped to the studio to put 'em through their paces.
I brought along my Martin, Old Les and my PRS from my guitar porn stash and Phil brought his banjo for some occasional yeehah acoustic action.

That new HHX Evolution ride (the bashed-looking cymbal in the middle) totally rules.

You can't be too careful, Pea. After what happened to both Stumpy Pepys and Jeff Porcaro, the Health and Safety Executive now require all drummers to wear protective clothing, breathing apparatus and a safety harness while gardening.

Ms.M. we didn't record anything this time as we were just there to try out Phil's new cymbals at volume. Michael is unwell at the moment but should his op be a success we shall soon be back in there recording more rackety noise with which to annoy Blogville.
Petrea, I've never known a woman who didn't love shiny objects, usually to the detriment of my bank balance. I think it's more of an "immature males love hitting things and making noise" problem.
Oh, and you can add lesbians to that list, too (witness Vic and her "What Is It With Dykes And Guitars" blog).

Yeah, I don't believe I've ever seen a drum stool with a back rest, but that all looks like a lot of fun.
It's also got a very wide, deeply padded leather seat, Robyn. Like motorcyclists, most rock musicians are now over 45 and mercifully the industry has reacted to the fact that we are old, fat and lazy with such aids as Phil's drumstool.
Dive, you make me drool. Tell Phil the sight of his kit gives me that little tingle in my lower intestines (or maybe it's something else in that area). I want to spend days at a time in there with you guys.

Holy moley, Petrea! They sound as good as Flyleaf and look as good as the Bangles. If I went to watch a band like that I'd get put on some kind of register.
A pretty and talented bunch. They're touring Europe, I guess. They toured last fall with Smashing Pumpkins. It's already a big deal. I don't know the other girls but Miranda is very sweet, and as I understand it they're being chaperoned to within an inch of their lives.
If they toured with the Pumpkins it really must be a big thing. They certainly make all the right noises and their looks and ages mean chaperoning is an absolute must. That's going to be a fun tour.
They're actual musicians, very dedicated (or at least Miranda is). It doesn't hurt that they're cute.
