Well just lately we've had "pollard" and "wrack" and "kine" so I thought I'd add to the list of tricky words to work into conversations with one of my all time favourites.

We certainly ate enough of it walking the dogs along the beach in the teeth of nor-easterly winter gales.

Spume reminds me of the word "spunk" and I have no idea why.
I grew up thinking the word "spunk" meant to be brave or to have a fiery personality. So, I used it once at a college party and thought I was being so sophisticated. I said to a crowd, "I like a guy with a lot of spunk."
It drew a great laugh and I figured out, too late, that the word had two meanings....

I was going along okay with this new word. I read it, absorbed it, and moved on... for a walk down to the beach. From that point it all went to pot. Spume, spume, spume spume....
