Dammit!Just as well I went to the Goodwood Revival Meeting at the weekend in my vintage mechanic's overalls.
I had planned on wearing this exact same outfit!
Meeting someone wearing the same dress as me is always so embarrassing.
Anyhoo, a big thank you to this … er … elegant young lady for being such a good sport.
This is more the accepted Goodwood style.I'll be doing the usual vintage motor racing posts this week but thanks to Katie's influence I'll also be posting a Goodwood Fashion Parade (yay)!

Color coordination is everything, doncha know.
Are crinolines back? Darn it, I just got rid of mine.
Well, I just bought a cute little hat like these to wear to a wedding this weekend; soooooo up to the minute!
I want to see what YOU wore, Dive!!
Nice nice nice! Love 'em both, the fab and the elegant.
Hee hee!
That hee hee-ed, a jaunty hat and a pair of white-trimmed spats do give you that bit of polish so sorely lacking these days - outside of Merchant Ivory films and Goodwood Revival Meetings, that is.
Speaking of gents with precious little class, I have just had my study in New York confirmed (June/July 2010), and can now think about getting away to Europe in November/December of this year. I will be based in Paris, but will also spend some time in London. I'll let you know in the next couple of weeks whether I can manage it all (financially, that is - the rest of me is more than willing and able). If I can, you will come and have lunch with me one day - my treat. But perhaps not dressed as you are here, Dive. ... Pink isn't your colour.
Hope you are well.
PS Sorry I haven't popped over in a while, but I've been blissfully immersed in my work.
i have no words, sugar! *sigh* xoxox
Yay I'm so excited for more of your Goodwood posts, especially since it sounds like you took lots of fashion photos for me. If these two photos are any indication of the variety of clothing worn at Goodwood, we're in for a real treat! I agree it would have been embarrassing if you'd worn your hot pink outfit. (I agree with Lucio, I really don't think hot pink is your ideal shade either.) The outfits in the second photo are splendid, from top to toe. I really like the blue dress. And for Paris, you need to be sure to bring an outfit like the gentleman shown. Wowza! More photos please, and we want sporty cars too!
Hot pink outfits need stockings methinks?
Adore the white shoes and spats and twin head coverings for the laaadieees. What on earth is that massive thing poking out of that man's (upper) pocket?
Hee hee, Mme Benaut, my thoughts exactly about that massive thing. Erp.
Dive: bottom photo is toodle pip. Top photo is tiddle poo. There. We have our definitions.
What's Goodwood?
Petrea: It's an excellent start for any man about to have sex.
Ha ha very funny, good job I have not printed the photo of you with the red wig and hairy legs!!!!!that pink is rather too bright for you.....
Glad you had a good time...as always... maybe a change from the overalls next year?, love the suit in the bottom photo, you should think suit for Paris .... like Katie I will love the fashions again...
Lupine Lady: As Katie will tell you, until she came along the only colour I could coordinate was black.
Crinolines are this years black, by the way.
Cynthia: I saw the cute hat you got for Katie. You have exquisite taste.
I wore my usual mechanic's overalls; there'll be a photo later in the week.
Sarah: Just wait for the special fashion post. There are some awesome (and awful) creations in there.
Lucio: Yay! I am DEFINITELY up for meeting you in London in Nov/Dec. Paris to London on Eurostar is only £29.95 each way at the moment.
I promise I won't wear pink.
Savannah: Words are not necessary with an outfit like that.
xoxox
Katie: Yes, I took a whole lot of fashion shots for you and I'll be posting them this week as soon as I have time.
In return, of course, I'll want photos of you all dolled up for Mark's wedding!
Mme: I think pink stockings with that outfit would have caused some kind of nuclear reaction.
The massive thing is something all men should wear: a silk cravat tucked into the top jacket pocket so that the gentleman's ladyfriend can give him a spit-wash when necessary.
Petrea: Perfect definitions!
Goodwood is my annual escape from reality.
Do please click the Goodwood link waaay down in my sidebar and scroll down to enjoy many more high-fashion and vintage car racing posts.
Lucio: Hee hee!
Mum: I think I've already posted that one years ago.
I like the overalls; they're practical, though if I could afford a fully spammed-up suit like the guy in the photo I would get one.
That pink outfit is quite fetching. Im sure Katie would like one just like it. lol
Goodwood !!!!!!!!! There is no such thing as "Badwood."
I can't help myself. I just ADORE those pink shoes.
I, for one, LOVE Katie's influence on you. And that fact that part of it is fashion related is all the more reason to celebrate. HA!
I actually have a dress almost exactly like the doll in pink is wearing. Mine is a cheap Pink Witch halloween costume I bought at Wal-Mart one year. It came with pink long hair and of course the same color witch hat. I need to get that one out again I think. :)
Glad you had fun at Goodwood!
Mark: You are SO right!
Maria: Me too, but not as much as the awesome pink wrestling boots I saw in Norwich a couple of weeks back. Yowza!
Shan: Photos, please. PHOTOS!!!
Hee hee hee.
And yes, I too love Katie's influence on me. And indeed the rest of her.
Nice to see you, too, Lucio...
Nice to know you missed me, Petrea.
I bet you look cute in your pink dress! :P
