Here's a nice classic Exige Sprint track racing car if you fancy this particular take on Lotus' 1960's retro look.
My personal favourite at this year's display was this absolutely perfect Exige in what Phil describes as a particularly tricky three-stage opalescent pearl.The camera doesn't do it justice, but the crowd of people standing in front of it, moving their heads from side to side and going "Oooooh!" at the pretty colours seemed to appreciate its beauty.
Phil's eye-wateringly gorgeous GT3 prototype wasn't on show this year (check back in the "Phil's Magical Kingdom" posts and you will eventually come to it and go "WOW!") …But this custom Elise in the same yummy sparkly orange was looking enticingly scrumptious.
And of course the best EVER colour for an Elise or Exige is "Isotope" (née "Scandal Green").The most extreme track car on the planet deserves nothing less than a paint job of complete insanity and this radioactive marker-pen ooze does the trick to perfection!
If, however, you should want (for reasons unknown) to look like you live on a council estate or are a footballer, you can plump for one of many combinations of colours that change as the car moves.
This one is in "Prism green", a very silly paint developed by Taz's mob at Dupont, from their "Chromalusion" range.Mica particles coated in special oxides (this one is cobalt) reflect two different colours depending on the angle you look at it from. In this case blue and green, but you can get some quite sickening combinations should the mood take you.
This sexy Europa looks black at first sight.
But look closer and it is filled with sparkly bits.My own car is sparkly black like this, but nothing like so extreme. It's a pity the sun was hidden by clouds when I took these as the effect is breathtaking.
This is "Diamond", developed by Phil for Lotus' Diamond Anniversary.
When you look at in in real life it genuinely appears as if the paint is around four inches deep. The sparkly bits look like they go waaaay deep into the bodywork.
You remember Linda Fiorentino in Men In Black when she sees the tiny galaxy? That look in her eyes was the same look in the the eyes of the folk ogling this baby.

I would LOVE to drive around in the "Scandal Green" Lotus. Such a fabulous shade of green!! But I'm drooling over all of these cars. Doris, my poor old 1992 bland white Honda Civic just can't compete. Looking forward to the rest of car porn week, even if I'm in frantic mode both at work and home trying to get ready to leave.

Hey! I wouldn't mind one in hot pink. JK. However, I would love a blue/purple one and yes, one that changes colour depending on the sun's reflection. I used to have a Toyota Corolla SE (US edition) which I had repainted/recoloured just like that and it was gorgeous. I called him Blue, for obvious reasons.
Joy, any shade of pink you can dream up is available should you have far more money than taste.
Also blue/purple Cromalusion, although that kind of thing does somewhat smack of council estate joyriders or footballers.

Joy, I am so sorry. Blue and purple are lovely colours but the two places you see the colour changing paintjobs over here (things may well be different in the Philippines) are on council estate re-sprays with Halford's cheapo tack-on spoilers and on footballers' cars.

Well, if I were to have my most coveted car of all time (and I'm a simple gal), I'd really like a aqua blue Z3. No metallic paint there!
And you are right. It is definitely different in the Philippines. Chavs in my country don't sport cars. They have 'owner-type' jeepneys. Eeww.

I must say, though I'm not into cars (a necessary thing considering what I drive-boring) those paint jobs look good enough to eat-or at least sniff like a permanent marker! Wow, the beauty! I would definitely want a two toned or color changing car if given the opportunity, though I'd probably choose the pearly one if I suddenly had the luxury of such a car.
Now, I must be off to visit Savannah and see what happened right away. Baha

Ah, we avoided Wymondham, Lynn as there was a four mile tailback after an accident. We sneaked around the A-140 to Mulbarton and got in via the little back roads to avoid the queues.

The sparkly diamond paint on the Europa is done using glass flakes in the laquer over straight black.
I did the process with an Exige in mind as they have curves but the marketing dolts put together a Europa.
They have no soul.

I like the "Scandal Green". Ahh Katie, I am a Honda Civic fan. I had a cream colored 88 four-speed. I loved that car. After having kids I had to trade it in. We purchased a red 91 Civic (5-speed)from my former roomate and president of the Philadelphia Sculptors Society for $400. It gets 35-40 mpg. I love to drive it! This is an adorable car but needs a paint job. I would love the Scandal Green.

Take the Scandal Green photo down to your local body shop and ask 'em to mix up a version for you. Hee hee.
