Here's an opening number from a typical night down at the Blues Club.
Opening numbers are always nice; nobody's trying to show off or play anything flash and we all get to know one another and groove along in a nice and friendly manner.
This is one of those nights when we had a couple of members who'd never played there before on Hammond and drums so at this stage of the evening we are all hanging back a little and chilling out.
My first guitar solo on this one is one of those "talky" solos, where each line is fingerpicked like a spoken line. Nothing showy, but I like playing like that from time to time.
So this is "Can't Quit Me, Baby".
Of course, by later in the evening we had loosened up considerably and I make no excuses for re-posting one of my all time favourites, the totally improvised (lyrics, too) fun-fest that is "Too Many Monkeys In My Tree".

Oh!!!! how we loved those nights, that Steve on his bass and Laurie on the sax, good drummer that night, (hope Phil listens) and cannot quite remember the name of that superb guitar player!!!!!

They were good nights, though. I think it was Wayne Potter on Hammond that night but I'd have to trawl through hundreds of tapes to find out who was drumming.
Sounds such fun. Such a musical family!

Sounding good from over here young fella! I know the feeling of having too many monkeys in one's tree. It only takes one monkey to take the whole tree down sometimes. My little Dandy is doing his darndest to do just that right now. AAARGH! I can't quit that Baby though! teehee
The easy child did finally start his guitar lessons last night. He got up early this morning to practice...cute.....It has begun ;).
I am so enjoying these now I can listen to them!!!

I've been too busy to blog for awhile but I made sure I tuned in to Thursday night's racket. Amazing guitar, sax and keyboards. I rocked out. I have been so insanely busy this week, I needed something to help me "wind down".
Great music to play while packing! I hope I can get these to work on my Touch. I'll check in again when I can!
