Look Up. Pt.2

This one's for Helen.
On the north side of Gracechurch Street, just up from Monument is this set of rather splendid modern heads. Not true gargoyles, as they do not spout water from the gutters, but somewhat incongruous on a seventies office block façade.

Look up. There they are, glaring down at you.

I particularly like this one. This is how I feel when the alarm goes off at 4:40 in the morning.

What's the story with these, I wonder? They seem based on real faces. Perhaps the Architect's enemies or the board of directors of the office building itself … Any ideas?

They certainly spooked me when I caught sight of them.

More odd things from above the heads of Londoners later. I'm back in Norfolk now, working from home for the rest of the week. Woohoo!

Those are so cool. It reminds me of scenes in a scary movie where they might come to life and watch you as you walk by.

I'm afraid I can't see these either. I will try again later--sometimes it's just a memory snag.

Hi, Prudence. Now I'm going to shudder every time I walk past them. Hee hee.

Pea: Thanks for letting Helly know. They are hardly green men, but they are pretty funny.

MB and Robyn: I will repost them and see if that helps.

Now I can see them. What a group to be greeted by while walking down the street. I would love to know the story behind these hideous creatures.

Hee hee. Handsome fellows are they not?

Those are AWESOME!

Dive, I can see them now and they are both awesome and grotesque on a modern building, in an amusing sort of way. Well shot.

You never know what’s lurking above you. I once looked up at a church bell tower and there were gargoyles staring down at me. Scary

Good for you, Dive! I don't like gargoyles, they're quite disturbing. We have lots in the Cotswolds!
