500 Words XLVII - This Month's Assignment

Get your pencils and notebooks ready, people. It is time once again to plunge headlong into the fœtid fecundity of your strange and twisted imaginations and come up with either a story or a string of excuses for not writing one (either will do as long as it's precisely 500 words in length and includes reference to this month's photograph).

Here is your assignment photograph (click it to enlarge):

I have to confess I am inordinately proud of this one. I love the contrast between the vertical elements and the huge, roly-poly bronze ass. And that Magritte-style man tickles me in all the right places.

So … contemplate it for a little while and then get writing.
We have a new rule this month, specifically for those of you who have lots of ideas and who really love writing. You can enter as many stories as you want, provided they are no more or no less than 500 words long and are inspired by the photograph. They can even be separate chapters of the same story if you feel 500 words is not long enough to say what you want to say.

I already wrote one story this morning (it took around fifteen minutes so telling me you don't have time to write just isn't going to cut the mustard, buster), and I may well have another go before the month is out.

Here are last month's stories all collected together if you're looking for inspiration:

Lulu's 'Breasticular Enhancification'
Vanda's 'Tuesday'
Lulu's 'This One's For Dive'
Katherine's 'Ivate's Private Lot'
Dive's 'Parking For G'.

... disappear for a little while, and you've started up the 500 words again!

I'll have to get crackin' to see if I can make an entry for that horrendously funny photo; it's like Rodin's Thinker is on a bender.

Oh, and if you like poetry, stop on over to my page. I have two poetry books that finally made the ebookshelf. I'll start drinking in merriment when I make a real bookshelf someday, but ... who knows.

Cheers!
Todd

Hi, Todd!
Hoorah for getting published! Excellent! Now I'm going to have to go out and buy an iPhone or an iPod touch so I can read you. Hurry up and get into paper so I can put you on my shelves alongside our other published Blogville poet, Katherine.

You should check out last month's photo, too. Petrea took it and that's what set me off re-starting 500 Words. It simply cried out for stories.

Several ideas cooking...

What is the name of the sculpture? I'm assuming it isn't 'Jarvis'.

Where is it located?

Hee hee, Lulu. I'm not sure about the name of the statue but it's in the Tuileries (stand in front of the Louvre facing toward the Arc de Triomphe, walk a couple of hundred yards forward and then veer to your left and there it is). Ronin's Kiss is somewhere about there but this is definitely not his ROFL.
I can't wait to read your ideas. And yay for restarting Lulu Haiku! Great to have it back.

Oh Dive, you're just too obvious now. Naked sculpture and a big phallic symbol? Btw, is that a male or female bum? It looks female from this angle.

WV: clone

Phallic symbol? Vanda, it honestly never occurred to me. I must be getting too old for this.
I'm not sure of the statue's gender, so I simply must go back to Paris to check. I'll let you know.

Found it - The Fallen by Maillol. Female, BTW. Scroll down to the 5th photo:

I still think my name for it is better though.

No time to write stories at present and I shan't bother with the long excuse as you know the short one. Have just caught up with your postings of the wonderful photos ;)

As long as you're stuck in Norfolk you're allowed to use the short excuse, Lynn. Hopefully, as things improve we'll get a chance to take some more photos.
See you Wednesday.

I HAVE got something nice on. Well maybe not that nice, but at least it's not that godawful Hawai'ian shirt. Do you really expect me to blog in suit and tie?
