Today is team building day.
The London and Cambridge offices are heading to Norwich where we'll be spending the day … er … team building.
Hence the photo of … well … a team, building. These merry village people are busy turning an old wartime airfield into the National Construction College and I go out there and shout at them a lot.
But back to today.
First up, we're taking the London and Cambridge people on a visit to Phil's Magical Kingdom, where they can ooh and aah at pretty cars (we're rebuilding the factory for them).
Then, after lunch, I've been volunteered (older blogpals will know why) to be the tour guide and show them all around the Cathedral. On the way I'll be teaching them Old Dive's Alternative History of Norwich, which many of you know so well. Then we're having a barbie on the big terrace overlooking the river. Yay!
If I survive without being fired I'll let you know how it all goes.
Happy Friday, peeps!

You know very well you are the best guide for Norwich, hope you have fun.
What a great photo! Did the workers get a kick out of you taking it?
Enjoy the fun and silliness of team building. I hear those things make people roll their eyes but that the activities really are helpful. I'd be bad at team day, though. I've yet to let myself fall backwards into the open arms of colleagues whom I'm supposed to trust will catch me. Screw THAT!
I love taking photos of workers downtown as they are involved in their jobs. This guy looks happy at his work and glad to see you.
Great photo of these guys. And the cement.
It sounds like a day you'll revel in (you're the perfect tour guide for this occasion). Have fun!
Were you yelling at them when you took the photo? Is that why the guy on the left is smiling?
Oh god, I'm so sorry I missed the boob discussion.
It all went splendidly, thanks, mum (as you know - I sent you some of the photos).
Katherine, builders get a kick out of anything that distracts them from building.
Fortunately our own team building day was not modelled on the American version and involved nothing more than socialising together, sight-seeing and enjoying way too much food and alcohol. I can't wait for the return leg in July when we invade Westminster, my old stomping ground.
Speedway, see above: the English builder is at his happiest when he's not actually building.
Ah, yes, Ms.M: you spotted the real reason for taking the photo: cement. The poor guys had just finished pouring a large section of reinforced concrete apron when the heavens opened and the rain trashed their work, which they had to re-tamp and finish again later.
I did indeed enjoy my tour guide duties, and the London and Cambridge staff had quite a few shocked giggles, too.
Petrea, the guy is smiling because standing beside me was the delicious Rachel, project manager for the job and object of unrequited lust to every man on site.
And I'm sorry you missed the boob discussion, too. Don't worry, however: this is Small Glass Planet so there's bound to be another one along soon.
