Sunday Sacrifice

When I got back from taking my tour group of London and Cambridge staff around the Cathedral during Friday's Team Building Day we found Dale and Stuart on the office terrace sacrificing animals in front of the Temple.

Meet my boss. Being … er … bossy.

And yes, the animal sacrifice worked. After months of non-stop rain (including torrential downpours that very morning while we toured Phil's Magical Kingdom), the weather gods accepted the offering of burnt meat and veggies (falafel and spinach quarter-pounders according to the box in the photo) and parted the clouds for us.
Yay!

More from the Team Building Day later.

Happy Sunday, y'all.

The angle of that first image is really funny—it does look like a sacrifice, doesn't it? Can't wait to hear more about your tour.

That was the effect I was going for, Robyn. The burnt offering.
The tour was great fun; I had a captive audience for Old Dive's tales of bloody revolt, drunken debauchery, torture, mayhem, death and - of course - sex and food.
Several of the visitors admitted to becoming suddenly interested in history. Hee hee.

How does one go about sacrificing a veggie burger to the rain gods?

I wish I could have been there for the tours - and the sacrifice.

The gods move in mysterious ways, Speedway. Apparently our rain gods are partial to charred falafel and spinach. Who knew?

That is the proper way to sacrifice animals "Bar-b-que".

Loved the Yoko Ono article. I met her twenty something years ago after a polo match in upstate New York. I met her but didn't get to really talk to her. Too bad.

It's great that the gods were pleased with your sacrifice, and a good time was had by all!

The interview is amazing! Thanks for posting the link.

What on earth were you doing at a polo match, Neetzy? Only toffs and Zelebrities attend those over here. But mega-kudos to you for having met Yoko; I've loved her since I was a kid and this weird exotic Japanese woman started dating my hero. When I was at college I discovered her art and I've been a huge fan ever since.
I am so jealous of you!

Ms.M. The gods were about six months late in perking up the weather but it's still welcome.
And yes, isn't that interview an inspirational wonder?

Dive,

About the polo match...I would never attend one of these pretentious events however, my friends lived in this little town in upstate New York where EVERYBODY went to the polo match on Sunday (including Yoko). It was very unpretentious. We were drinking beer in T-shirts and fixing divits with the best of them.

Now THAT's the way to play Polo, Neetzy! I wish we could do that over here. It looks a great fun game but only the very rich have horses over here and the not very rich are discouraged from attending their snooty matches.
