Great gifts that so fit the recipient! So, which magical tusk is your favorite? I laughed seeing the WWBD spinner; I got my husband one of those for his birthday last year :)
The narwhal thing is priceless. I shall guard my koalas, now that I know the evil truth.
Here's some bacon you might enjoy when you have time. You're not my only blogging friend who's a bacon lover, so I've been over this bacon territory before.
It was a contest entry. I didn't win, but I had a blast.
And to think that just a few days ago I was firmly convinced the weirdest toy ever to hit the shelves was a pair of racing grannies! I can't imagine what could be more bizarre than this. Oh, wait a minute ... no, false alarm. This is still weirder than anything I come up with (at the moment).
Petrea: the honour is all mine, though I do apologise for the paucity of my comments. And how could I forget such a bizarre post? Hee hee. Especially one involving bacon!
I don't know where Katie found these particular things, but those who can't make it to Games of Berkeley on Shattuck Avenue can always take a peek at Archie McPhee (www.mcphee.com/shop/).
I do believe it was Katie and Trish who first put me onto Archie McPhee, back in the days of its print catalog. Nothing but the finest inflatable turkeys, shushing-librarian action figures, plastic bugs, etc.
Sarah: Thank you so much. And well spotted. When a box with Katie's handwriting came to me with the words "Archie Mc.Phee" on the side my joy knew no bounds. There's a link to them down in my sidebar called simply "Best Shop In The World."
Perfecto! Katie is a dear thoughtful one who knows just how to thrill her fella!
I must admit that Narwhals still really confuse me. I thought they were fictional characters from stop-motion Christmas movies until EXTREMELY recently when we were watching the movie Elf. Oh dear. Even when I saw this post I had to look them up to make sure my newest info was correct. Why do I admit these things? I don't know.
What I DO know is that bacon and I have a lot in common. I love it so which makes me feel slightly narcissistic.
When my sweet hubby makes bacon in the morning while I'm lazily snoozing(i.e. today), he always leaves one piece on a tiny plate for me as a token of his affection. teehee
Happy Tuesday! I'm off to boycott some tofu. All in a days work!
I'm so sorry I missed your birthday dearest Dive. Such lovely toys ~ um, presents ~ from Katie. Having seen how much she enjoyed the mechanical museum pieces, I can glimpse her sense of humour even way down here. Anyway dear, many belated happies for your birthday. I have some catching up to do in the 500 Words department but I'll get around to that when the garden has been licked into shape after my month's absence. I'm just a wee bit busy at the moment and all my fingers are looking green, not just my thumbs.
Welcome home, Mme! Thank you for the birthday wishes. I so wished I could have been there in SF with you and Katie. Sounds like you had a nice time, even if she walked too much (hee hee).

Gosh, I thought bacon meant Francis Bacon and what would HE do? Was I surprised to see it was REAL bacon; oh well, silly me.

Where does Katie find these things? Spin the bacon for me and tell me what it says I should do! :D

Put the B in BLT! What great gifts—and what great taste Katie has.
Ms.M: You and your husband both have impeccable taste.
Cynthia: Now that WOULD make a good spinner. I wonder what he'd do?
Petrea: Hee hee! I remember the bacon at the museum post. I definitely think they should sell it in their gift shop.
Cali: It tells you you should sizzle. Yay!
Lucio: It easily outweirds the librarian action figures I got for my librarian friends.
Robyn: She does indeed (ha)!
Dive, I'm honored whenever you peek at my posts, even moreso when you comment. But that you actually remember one--hand me a tissue!

I love those gifts that just keep on giving. I love bacon. Make that I love GOOD bacon.
Happy birthday, Dive!!!

Shan: Katie certainly seems to know just what to buy a guy when he hits fifty-one.
Narwhals are beautiful (when they're not imapling cute animals), but be grateful they stay too far north for you to bump into one after dark.
Hooray for Jamey and his affectionate bacon treats. He really is a special guy.
Those silly narwhals! Happy belated Dive. I'm sorry, I've been a bit pre-occupied.
Neetzy: I know and my thoughts are with you.
