I was trolling through my collection of old Punch magazines (mine go right back to 1844 … sheesh) when I saw this and it looked kinda familiar.
Then I realised why.
Please don't hit me.
It's my secretary Genevieve and her girl backing singers cum screeching harpies in my department's admin. section who sit annoyingly (very) within earshot.
I don't need my ears pierced; they did that to me long ago.
This was published in 1908.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Pick a lot, pick a little more...."
History proves we women are birds through and through! :)
Ah t'was always thus.
Shan: Hee hee hee. That cracked me up.
Lynn: Since time immemorial. Or at least since 1908.
Katie: I'm just glad I'm out of slapping range.
I found all sorts of things to giggle at and/or offend in those old mags. I've scanned quite a few in though I'm not sure what to do with them yet. An occasional caption comtest maybe.
I dunno.
"Harpy" is an under used word. Im goiung to make a point to use it more often.
My word verification word is "facked." lol
You must be used to courting trouble... and talking your way out of it... ;)
Mark: "Facked" made my breakfast come out my nose. Too funny.
Ms.M: I'm really good at the first one, but the second one needs some work.
Very very funny. I love the caption. When I used to work in the office, the women would chat while keeping an alert eye out for the boss who went on "chat patrol" now and then. When one of us would see him coming, she'd say, "chat patrol!" and we'd all get back to work (and yes, the boss was my husband).
You actually OWN all those mags?
WOW.
Do you keep them next to your Playboys? Hee hee.
Robyn: That's hilarious! I wonder if he knew?
Katherine: They're all bound up in big old leather volumes. I used to collect them when I was younger.
I must confess I've never owned a Playboy, though we used to pass them round at school and giggle a lot.
