500 Words XV - This Week's Sentence

How nice to return from vacation to find people still willing to write 500 Words stories.
Yesterday's provided some splendid coffee-break entertainment.

This week's sentence is a nice easy one. Short and enticing. I do hope you have fun with it.

It is from Gustave Flaubert's 'Madame Bovary.'

The sentence is:
'They heard in the passage the sharp noise of a wooden leg on the boards.'

I've already sketched mine out so I'll trim it to the right length and come around to collect yours up ready for next Thursday's Story Time.

Enjoy!

Thank you, sweetie, and thank you, mum.

The cookies are going down a storm. I've had to post the recipe on the office intranet together with the photos from our old cookery post.

Cookies? Did someones mom make cookies? Happy Birthday dive - I'd say save me some cookies, but might be awhile before I'd cross the Atlantic!

My authentication words today - prestrap - where do they get these?

Not sure I'm anybody's mom, Todd. Hee hee.
There's an old post somewhere under the "What's Cooking With Dive" label where Katie and me make spiced molasses cookies from her mom's recipe. I made sixty yesterday to feed the ravening pigs at the office. It's the feast day of Saint Calorie here.

Prestrap's a doozy. What is that? A jockstrap for kiddies?

Joyeux anniversaire, Dive...
... And happy Sainte Calorie ;-)

Merci beaucoup, Thib!

Jockstrap for kiddies - lord almighty, the heck is that, a dental-floss noose and a button?

Okay, back to work - must force discolored imagination to focus on this fiscal analysis.

Cheers, Prudence!

Todd: Hahaha! That's too disturbing an image, even for this late on a Friday afternoon.

So no mention at all eh? How does one write a post on his birthday without so much as a hint? We can't remember these things on our own you know?!

I know that you knew Katie would fill in those of us who aren't great with dates. I didn't realize your b-day was two after Jamey's. And on Friday the 13th this year you lucky dog! Is it a happy day in England like it is in Italy or is it a cursed one? Hopefully it's the former. :}

Have a wonderful day today and eat 2-3 of those yummy cookies for me (me likey the molasses)!

Enjoy the celebration!

Fee Fi Fo Fum- You are a gem of an Englishman!! :D

Shan: Thank you so much.
Me likey the molasses, too! Luckily there were some folk away from the office today so Genevieve (my token American secretary) and I got to snarf a couple each. Yay!

Friday the Thirteenth is supposed to be unlucky here so I celebrate it to buck the trend.

Happy Birthday, Dive. I thought I left a message on here earlier!

Hope you enjoyed your day.

Dive, I hope you had an excellent birthday, feast day, and Friday the 13th!
My WV is hegrous -- which could be a good name for a rock band...

dive said...

Cali: Thank you! I had a spiffy time.

Ms.M: Hoorah for the feast of Saint Calorie! A much misunderstood and unjustly ignored saint; what's not to love about the patron saint of overindulging on cookies?

Are there any truly original ways to wish someone an absolutely smashing birthday (you know, belatedly)? ... Is this one? ... I bloody well hope so. ... I really do.

dive said...

It's the very best way, Lucio. Thank you so much.

Well, I just didn't even read the comments so I'm really, late. Just read it on Katie's blog. Happy, happy birthday, youngster. I hope your birthday weekend is a doozie.

dive said...

Thank you so much, Petrea.
You'll find out just how much of a giggle I had this weekend if you check out my post tomorrow.

Curses - I won't make this one this week and THAT is a crime. I really wanted to hit this one.

No problem, Todd. The wooden leg kinda restricted the subject matter a bit.
Next week's is even worse! Hee hee.
