For the next couple of days, Old Dive is going to take you for a ride on this:
The good old London Eye.
Hoorah!
It's all held together with bits of string.
Just like a bicycle wheel, except much more of a bummer if it gets a puncture.
Even from ground level it can induce vertigo.
The bastards wouldn't let me go up those steps.
For anyone who has been afraid to have a go on the Eye, you can see from here that it is indeed all made out of drinking straws and string, so it's nice and safe.

The trick is to get there half an hour before the official opening time. The operators get the thing going and let people on anyway, and sometimes there are only a couple of other people in the gondola if you are early enough.
It would have been super to ride during the 80 mph storm.
Perhaps one could see a few school roofs drifting past ?
I hope to be there about Aug. 27, avec video camera, and an empty stomach !

Wow you have such a cool office with those views. I've always wanted to go on the London Eye but it's sooooo not suited to me. Yes i hate heights. Yes i get vertigo just changing a lightbulb. Your talk of straws and string are not conducive to my confidence. I do adore views though. If i'm safely contained i feel fine, but i'm guessing that's not the sensation you get up there in those pods? I am therefore grateful for these pics. Great! How much is it to go on and how long does it last? There's a hefty chance if i went on there, i'd freeze, sit on the floor of the pod with my eyes closed (holding Utsav's hand) and miss the lot!

I think it's fabulous, but I live in Tackyville, USA.
I'm trying to convince my husband that we need to go on the Eye when we come over next summer. He makes all these excuses (the price, the clouds, etc..), but I'll bet he's just chicken-shit.
